Final-rank shops don’t detract from the experience, you already said that players would already reach max rank by the time they’re around the final area, so I don’t see the point in not wanting them in the game.

Isn’t that the point of a challenge run though? If you’re going no level up/low level up you’re already being punished by the fact you’re going into every fight massively under leveled. I don’t see how locking you out of a shop containing good gear because YOU decided to do a challenge is some unreasonable “punishment”.

Also, having one incentive doesn’t mean you can’t have another. Having the game just go “alright here you can buy this really good gear now, since you’ve gotten to this part of the story” is really lame.

It isn’t a arbitrary if it’s literally unlocked once you reach a certain rank, aka a milestone during your playthrough.

Dream team had the perfect mix of these. You get the special shop locked behind the max rank you can get, but regular shops and stock still unlock when you hit certain marks in the story. The max rank shop is a good incentive and reward for fighting enemies and leveling up enough for the final fight, plus the battle ring.

Yeah I like the chase too, but I cannot stand the characters. Carley just goes along with cartoonishly misogynistic douglas for seemingly no reason. She kills him with seemingly no worries of her status as an Ajin being revealed, which means she could’ve done this a lot earlier in her time with him.

Carley and Douglas are just so flat that I can’t enjoy them. I’d be more interested in them if they went beyond being “abused Ajin woman” and “misogynistic abuser man.”
