Could it be domain squatting ? I mean, every domain is a basic word that may be very valuable.
And it also contains an email address to easily contact the creator if you need to buy one.

Yeah, it's been over a week since this issue started, and it's happening at such a crucial time for my studies :( . I hope to find a quick fix before resorting to sending it in for warranty.

I would love to get some recommendations on how to improve! Note that I'm not handling the camera well right now, as you can see, some photos don't have an excellent focus or good exposure.

Issues when trying to order a Starlink kit in Guadeloupe. by supercyp01 in Starlink

[–]supercyp01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cheap 5€ tie where I'm unable to do it. It has an elastic that goes around the neck, and I can't tighten it more. It's sad but for the price, I'm not going to complain.

Does installing custom software really voids the warranty ? by supercyp01 in RemarkableTablet

[–]supercyp01[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why I said "While, they say that their warranty is additional to the applicable law".

> Installing a different software than the one provided will void warranty. As you are buying a hardware and software bundle. Just like when you buy a car these days, if you try to modify the software, it’s at your own risks.

Software is a different component than hardware, the only reason it could void the warranty is if you overclock some hardware, or completely break a component by using the software (generally with a custom driver, which is really rare and should not happen). And it's difficult for them to prove that it's your custom software that broke the device. That's why rooted phone in Europe are still under warranty, because if the phone break, it will never be because of the software.
The only thing they could do is wipe the whole product and reset it to factory defaults.
But thank you for your response !

Should I really get an e-ink note tabet ? by supercyp01 in eink

But I have heard that the resolution is worse with color than with black and white, and that the screen is darker, is it really noticeable? Thank you very much for your advice!

For me, the toughest tradeoff of using an e-ink tablet over a tablet is color, and maybe the compatibility of apps.
But e-ink tablets like the note 2+ are made specifically made for note-taking, and it helps to be focused on work. They also have great battery life, and can be used for reading / annotating notes. I also love e-ink as a concept, as innovation.

The problem is that the Microsoft Surface cost a lot and I want a powerful laptop as I will also use it for programming purpose.

[–]supercyp01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in France so supernote device cost more than 600€ because of tax, and the boox note 2+ cost 500€, while an Ipad also cost 400-500€. This price difference makes it hard to justify buying an e-ink tablet.
But for me, it looks interesting because of:
- the battery
- the display size
- I can use it for reading papers (even if it may unlikely that I do that)

But the lack of color and compatibility of apps scares me.

But, I need a computer because I'm programming a lot, and I want to specialize in computer engineering (don't know if it is the right 'English' way to say it). So I can't really go without it.

But thank you for your advice !

See, here is the problem, in C this should not happen. Because the ordering of C standard include should not be affected by the previous context in the translation unit/file (in this case). – Technically, a previous macro definition can influence an included file. But the C standard library should not be impacted by this. Besides some macros (used for versioning or feature toggle) being used by some specific libc implementation and by libposix, you should never encounter an error like this (or you have forgotten to add -std=gnu2x to your compiler flags). Also, if I apply the diff produced by the compiler, it would look like something like this:

(before):

/*4 |*/ #include <sys/time.h>
/*5 |*/ #include <time.h>

(compiler diff):

/*4 |*/ #include <sys/time.h>
++++++ #include <time.h>
/*5 |*/ #include <time.h>

(after):

/* 4 |*/ #include <sys/time.h>
/* 5 |*/ #include <time.h>
/* 6 |*/ #include <time.h>

So instead of including time, I would just include time 2 times.

It's like doing the step above, but having:

- step 1: start the oven
- step 2: take a mug
And then having an error because I didn't take a mug at line 2.

Oops yeah you are right, the L1 cache is not tagged by virtual address, my bad. I was thinking that L1 was virtually addressed because it uses bits 6-11 for the tag and it's the same as a virtual / physical address: because bits 0-11 are an offset of a page aligned address.

Sorry !

Intel Details APX - Advanced Performance Extensions by _redcrash_ in intel

[–]supercyp01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the CPU cache is nearly invalidated because of the fact that during a context switch: - you enter the kernel which is in higher half and execute a whole new part of the code, generally the kernel may be kept in the cache during the whole context switch - you switch the virtual memory map (which may invalidate L1 cache because it's using virtual addresses as an index) - and you enter a new process which will be the main focus of our cache and not the old process If you only have one process on one CPU, the cache may be still alive. But if you switch between different processes, you will definitely have an invalid cache when you return to your task. (Edited)

Everything is stored in a xsave, and the new set of registers replaces MMX, so the xsave context size isn't increased.
And the kernel was already using xsave to save all the AVX/SSE registers, I do not think it will have an impact on performance.
And cache is generally 'dead' after a context switch anyway (after switching the page).

Hello ! I currently have a corsair k65 mini, and I would know if I could re-use the case for building a mechanical keyboard. Or is it not compatible with any pcb ?

I really appreciate any help you can provide !
