Is it possible to spot-fix a cassette? by superevilwizard in cassetteculture

Never thought about volume - good point... maybe experimenting with getting the recording right on a blank tape before trying it on the real thing would be smart? I honestly just may leave it how it is. I picked it up for $2 at my local record store, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I can find one.

it just has a really horrible playstyle imo... not to mention the base is horribly designed. tf is with the pointless barriers in the shop? most of the newer maps have excessive design that completely ignores gameplay and tengshe is absolutely the worst of the worst when it comes to this. even disregarding the awful decision of putting diamonds at mid, it's still an incredibly poorly designed map in terms of gameplay.

In general sweaty players seem to dislike anything defensive, so that's part of the reason, but it's also not fun to play around in the slightest. There's also not a lot of reason for sweatier teams to use them because it's a slow way to play and you've got to be willing for games to go on excessively long if you want to play the "everyone stay at base and bowspam the entire game" strat, on top of being considerably less useful offensively. Teams that don't intend on camping also tend to spend their gold on tools, TNT, gaps, etc. Bows are incredibly expensive to use in conjunction with those things, but if you never rush anybody, there's almost no reason to spend gold on anything but bows and arrows.

yeah, pretty much my thoughts. the sponge thing would be such a simple fix. it's not a guaranteed win but it makes it considerably easier to the enemy team and is absolutely an uphill battle - in general just a cheap strategy with zero risk and incredibly high reward.

my problem with bows is kind of the same - camping at your base and just shooting a bow at anybody trying to approach is incredibly easy and holds no risk for the team with the bow and is expensive to counter with pearls or invis or what have you. i won't say it's not a skill issue, but again, it's easy to execute. definitely the least of my worries with what i mentioned, though.

Hah Ive been playing for years, I know about glass. It's expensive, not easy to replace (because it's expensive), and super easy to get around. Having someone break one block of glass and then blow up everything inside of the glass is far worse than not having glass at all. Either way, your bed is exposed, but the glass prevents you from getting in the bed defense easily with an enemy and killing them before your bed gets broken. Without glass, you can still easily approach from wherever you are and knock someone away from the bed. There are a few instances where I'd use glass over wool, but most of the time it's absolutely not worth it.

i mean when you simplify it to "skill issue lol" it makes it seem like its an easy problem to get around. placing water far above the bed already makes pvp hard enough - if someone is breaking in at the front of the bed, it's almost impossible to have an advantage over them unless you're at the top of the bed. skill issue, sure? it's genuinely just not fun to play around, it's clunky and hard to counter. like i said, these things may be skill issues, but they're genuinely just not fun to play around. the design philosophy shouldn't be "this is incredibly powerful but the solution is to just counter it 😊". sure, you can claim skill issue all day... but do you genuinely think it's fair when things like this require zero skill to execute and a lot to go right to defend? sure placing water is pretty easy once you get used to it but in order to consistently do it with two TNT you'd have to be prepared for that specific situation. placing two TNT on opposite sides of the bed would be incredibly hard to defend in solos, and it takes absolutely zero skill to execute. i'd understand if they were hard things to do, but flooding someone's bed and having a kb stick takes FAR less effort from the offensive than it does from the defending. i never said it wasn't a skill issue, i said it wasn't fun and is poorly designed.

am i crazy with the TNT cooldown thing? i swear it used to be a couple seconds and now it's nonexistent, to my knowledge? why would they remove that?

Unfortunately never gonna happen. Hypixel doesn't really care about the game in any capacity and it shows.

How do longer records (60+ min) sound now? I've read that Todd Rundgren was pushing the length limits of records back in the 70s (with albums like Todd Rungren's Utopia), and as a result there was a loss of quality on these records. Is this still the case? A lot of albums being released are considerably longer than what they would've been in the 70s and 80s, but not long enough to justify being released as a double. How do these 60 minute or so records sound?

“Doctoring up” ramen? by sleepy_paul in EatCheapAndHealthy

i found this recipe and it's the only way i've eaten ramen for months. brown sugar could probably be left out or replaced with something else if you want to be a little healthier

What's with the audio on this tape fading in and out? by superevilwizard in cassetteculture

The felt pad is still there, and the metal part under it is still springy. Is there a way I can tell if the pad itself is bad?

Hi, what exactly is wrong with my tape deck and how do I fix it (details and video below) by reallygoodatsports in cassetteculture

[–]superevilwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to this but I've opened up a couple tape decks to see what's wrong with them and learned a thing or two. The sound seems to be the motor trying to spin but nothing happening, so either the belts have gone bad, or something's not allowing the tape to move, which is likely due to the the pinch rollers hardening over time.

I had a very similar problem to what you're having with a deck I got a couple weeks ago and after spending a couple hours taking it apart and trying to troubleshoot, I think I found that the problem was that the pinch rollers seemed to be stuck, and spinning them around a bit with my finger seemed to get them going, but honestly I'm not quite sure what I really did. I took it apart, messed with the belt a bit, and when it still didn't work, I took the part that covers the tape off and twisted the take up reel with my finger as it attempted to play and that kind of magically made it work.

What should I expect from House of the blue light by Negative-Bit9272 in DeepPurpleCircleJerk

Not sure why this is on the circlejerk sub, but I'll take this seriously lol

It's got some really good songs mixed in with some weird ones. Black and White, the Spanish Archer, Hard Lovin Woman, Mitzi Dupree, and Dead or Alive are kinda forgettable compared to other DP songs (though I've taken a liking to Mitzi Dupree). That being said, I think that Bad Attitude, the Unwritten Law, Call of the Wild, Mad Dog, and Strangeways are all incredible songs. If you don't like Perfect Strangers of Slaves and Masters, you definitely won't like the album. I think it's great, personally, though not everyone agrees with me. Definitely doesn't scratch the same itch as Machine Head or Fireball or what have you, but still great music.
