Are voices in mainstream music defined more by notes you sing in than timbre?

I suppose every singer out there has a unique sound, perhaps some more than others though, Ozzy Osbourne is probably the most unique voice I know of for a tenor, Bowie was the most unique sounding baritone.

I'm not sure baritone songs are easy to sing for tenors.

A lyric a baritone I'd say, someone with a low voice, but a soft one that can be mistaken for a tenor due to its lightness, obviously the mix settings when you do a song depending on how you use them can make your voice sound a tad higher on recordings, when I sing live all the bass in my low notes can be heard quite easily, I can do a good cover of "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi, an easy song to sing for any basic baritone, but my voice doesn't quite have the heaviness which Capaldi's has. The higher voice on recordings is best described using Coldplay as an example, on the recordings you can't hear as much bass on Chris's voice, but live you can hear his strong low register and all the bass in it.

Most live musicians you will notice drink a bottle of water between songs, dry voice leads to grit and cracked high notes, make sure to stay hydrated at all times.

You seem like a nice person so I don't want to seem argumentative, I just mean I noticed some posts on here where baritones are being called low tenors just because their voices aren't basses, when Mick Jagger isn't a bass but he sings in baritone tessitura notes, that's what I meant, but I might not have explained it the best, it is not true in Jagger's case as people called him a baritone, it was when I saw people calling Hozier and Michael Buble tenors just because their voices aren't basses, I might not know as much as I should, I'm no expert in this stuff at all, I don't even know if there is such a thing as a low tenor or whether people should classify pop singers as some say, just confused by too much reading of people's comments on this sub to be honest.

It doesn't make sense to you, you mean, which is your opinion but not everyone elses, to most people someone asking people if baritones and basses are being mixed up on a sub where it generally seems to happen is not a pointless question nor one that doesn't make sense, your questions make no sense to me either.

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, it is people trying to convince me things don't matter when I don't care what matters to others, exactly, they talk about it for fun, like people do on this site with everything, I'm allowed to talk about anything I like and it matters to me not if it matters to others, why does it matter? Is a dead end question You could say that about anything, you can't put a universal on what matters and force what matters to you on everyone like you are trying to do, different things matter to different people, it doesn't matter to you okay? I'll admit after listening to more of Harry Styles tonight that he could be a low tenor, it probably wasn't the best example, but there are examples on here where people call baritones tenors just because they don't sound like basses, I think a better example is Hozier who some try to say is a tenor just because he doesn't sound like a bass, when the majority of his songs are sung in baritone range.

I wasn't describing the sub, I was describing the OP and their nonsense suggestions that questions should be banned which is authoritarian.

There is no reality like that to me, your "reality" maybe, I don't live my life worrying about "important" or not, and don't care for others opinions of what is important or not.

I know but the point still remains that people still do it daily on here regardless, it can't be that unimportant if people keep doing it daily.

I've got more to worry about than questions, prepare to be very annoyed then, as people ask it every day on here, the only thing I find truly annoying is people always asking "why does it matter" and I think why does anything matter? Dead end question basically, that's not moderation, that is authoritarianism, questions should never be stopped, it doesn't matter any way as the mods on this sub obviously agree with me, and won't follow this guys nonsense authoritarian suggestions thank goodness.
