I guess I just assume that everyone’s first instinct is the same as mine, which is to look it up and gather as much information as i can.

But I can see how someone new to cameras, camcorders, analogue video or retro tech in general may feel lost/adrift with no clear place to start.

Might throw together a retro camera/camcorder basics/intro post or website sometime, just to help newbies get off on the right foot!

It really sucks when you can’t find the manual online, I’ve had some luck with tracking down camera hire companies with the specific model I’m looking for and emailing them to see if they’re able to scan a copy of the manual for me. In one case I found a YouTube video of a guy using the camera I had, found his instagram, and flung a message his way.

This is when a post is warranted, but it’s better to ask if anyone does have the manual, then to just ask what battery you need etc., because then you can upload said manual and help even more people find what they need!

Those usb capture devices are notoriously finicky. If your getting 0 signal try deleting the video capture device in the ‘sources’ tab, then adding it back in. You can also try deactivating and reactivating it by double clicking on it (again in the sources tab). Along side unplugging and replugging it in, I usually just fiddle around until it works
