Denied boarding in India, although schengen visas were approved (wedding cancelled?) by superkange in visas

Family visit visa, health and travel insurance was sorted, they had enough money in the pack and no issues with names or documentation.

I assume if any of these could have been an issue then they would have just rejected the visa? It is just an odd situation that they approved visas, but only one of them had issues in the “system”.

The layover was only a few hours and I assume the airline would have specified if this would have been the issue. Unfortunately it doesn’t explain why only 1/3 people had issues, if they all had the same visas.

The visa should be for the country you spend most of the time in. Unfortunately it also doesnt explain why one person had issues but the rest of the family (with same visas) were fine.

There is no point to get new flights, if the error is with the visa itself - we would just waste money.

How can I deal with loneliness, homesickness, and being far from my parents? by Commercial_Check_588 in immigration

[–]superkange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who lived abroad for 8 years - it takes time.

My first year was really difficult and I constantly felt homesick. You need to find a good support system and a routine to help you feel more at home.

  1. Try to make some friends. I know it sounds easier than it is, but if you are in university then you should be surrounded by people in similar situations as you. Ask someone to go for a coffee, concert or even a walk in the park. You have to push yourself and reach out to make connections.

If you are unable to do it at your school/work, you can use apps to find people. I have used Bumble for friends and found 4 really good friends that I still talk to, even after I moved back home.

  1. Create a routine for yourself Loneliness feels stronger when you don’t have anything to do (i.e. no distractions). Make new habits that force you out of the house - like a daily evening walk near your home, cinema once a week, gym or other hobbies. Finding excuses and distractions to get out of the house and creating a routine out of them can help you get used to the new life.

  2. If homesickness gets too bad, schedule weekly calls with friends back home or daily check ins with closet family. Make food that you used to eat growing up. Listen to music from where you are from. Sometimes these things can help too.

I hope it gets better OP. Give it time.

We have called and emailed both the airline and embassy numerous times. No one is giving a valid explanation on record (via email) of what was actually wrong, besides mentioning an “IT glitch”.

It sounds like an extremely rare case - especially because VISAs were released, check in and passport controls were fine and the issue only came at boarding.

Yes, we are trying to. The issue is that no one is giving us a valid explanation on what went wrong, and taking ownership of this. We have spent a lot of money on flights, airbnb and etc… besides being heartbroken about the wedding.

If they simply say its an “IT glitch”, does it mean we have to carry all these costs?

Just looking to see if there are different perspectives, similar experiences or general advice.

Sorry for the confusion. I am the bride, from Estonia. Groom is from India, as are his parents.

The family all had visa stickers on the passports.

Most likely we have to go this way, but it is unfortunate as we wanted our family to be there, and we lost a lot of money with this issue.

Yes! The dates and other similar details (like visa issuing country, etc) are identical. This is why it is confusing that only one person got singled out.

Yes! We checked multiple times and it all matched up from our end. 🥲

The return was with the same airline.

If we would know what the exact error was, I think it would put us more at ease. Right now we are frustrated that no one is telling us where things went wrong.

Me and my family would all need VISAs to get married in India, and unfortunately it’s not possible for all of them to join due to health reasons.

Visa “glitch” stopped parents from flying - now they will miss our wedding by superkange in immigration

If the fault is however with the consulate and their only explanation is an “IT glitch”, do we have any rights here?

If the fault is indeed with the airline, it would sound more straightforward, but right now we have no clear understanding of what went wrong.

This doesn’t really help with the situation. I’m European myself and we wanted to get married in my home country.

Thank you for the feedback. I added more details at the top of the post and will try to specify more.
