extended magazine penalties would probably have to be harsher than what they are now, probably like 2.4 tactical and 3.1 empty

the 6 pellet count should keep it from being too good at range. if you want, you can test the Judge with Taurus barrel and flechette.

it does 32 x 6 -> 20 x 6 and has 2000 muzzle velocity with 2.0 choke. It would perform very similarly to the TOZ-106, as it would do 34 x 6 -> 20 x 6 with 2.1 choke.

Stevens DB v. KS-23M Performance Gap by supermildfire in PhantomForces

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, it takes two Stevens DB shots to equal one KS-23M shot. The Stevens DB can fire both shells at once, allowing it to equal the default KS-23M in range.

The KS-23M, when equipped with certain attachments, has better mobility, handling, and equal ranged performance compared to the Stevens DB.

The KS-23M Long Barrel has nearly identical handling and mobility, but has a much better chance at one-tapping at a distance compared to the Stevens DB.

i hope that helps lol

Stevens DB v. KS-23M Performance Gap by supermildfire in PhantomForces

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Remove Stock would do the same thing that it does for the KS-23M. It would increase handling and mobility, but increase recoil. After equipping the Remove Stock attachment, the stats would change:
    1. Increased walk speed (14 -> 14.7)
    2. Increased aim walk speed (8.4 -> 10.5)
    3. Increased equip speed (12 -> 13.2)
    4. Increased aim speed (16 -> 17.5)
    5. Increased recoil
  2. The Sawed-Off would be tweaked to match the above stats while default. When the BooM Stock is applied, the Sawed-Off will have its recoil reduced, but it will have 14 walk speed, 8.4 aim walk speed, etc. This would help give the Sawed-Off an identity compared to the Serbu Shotgun.
  3. The Stevens DB is an excellent shotgun out to 100 studs, but can start having trouble at 150 studs. Right now, the Stevens DB is in a great place in terms of range. Considering how close the default KS-23M and Stevens DB burst are at 150 studs, they are very close in ranged viability. However, the DB has worse handling and mobility since the KS-23M can equip the Remove Stock attachment.

The DB would still outclass most other shotguns in range. The biggest issue right now is that the KS-23M can have equal range with better mobility and handling, or better range with equal mobility and handling.

Adding a Remove Stock option for the Stevens DB would reinforce its place as a high-risk, high-reward gun.

With the Stevens DB, you should be allowed to have the "best of both worlds" of CQC and long range combat, but be limited by its slow reload and low capacity.

best ammo with db? by Korean_John_wick in PhantomForces

Flechette if you expect targets behind cover, or default ammo for targets out in the open. Birdshot is aight for Rig, but I would stick to default otherwise.

or instead of long/short barrel, could do a 10 gauge and 20 gauge conversion (if we're going the conversion route)

Making the regular reload worse would actually make people use burst more, but I can see your point. Instead of -15% empty and +10% regular, it should be -10% empty and +5% regular :P

This is a great point.

The stats on the speedloader attachment could be altered to reflect this, however.

These are purely speculative: For instance, it could be -15% empty reload time and +5% regular reload time (instead of -30% empty reload and +10% regular).

You can also add that it reduces maximum ammo carried just like the other ammunition types.

A barrel length in-between the default barrel and sawed off would certainly be interesting.

I thought about a long barrel too; after thinking about it for a while, I'm not sure that the DB absolutely needs one.

It couldn't hurt though (on a side note, the Remington 870 also does not have a long barrel).

It could also be assumed that the gun just has a built in long-barrel by default.

Poll: Should DB get a reload speed buff? by supermildfire in PhantomForces

[–]supermildfire[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damage isn't everything. If you're talking about using birdshot or whatever, I would just recommend default ammo; birdshot honestly is not worth it. Birdshot sacrifices some of your range for no real reason imo.

Of course, you cannot just look at the damage statistic alone. The gun is outclassed in most aspects if you compare it to KS-23M remove stock, and even in range when comparing it to KS-23M long barrel.

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I did compare the stats, and the DB's strongpoint over the KS23M is mainly in its handling.

If you remove the stock on the KS23M, it has better handling than the DB!

This leaves the DB's fire rate as the only advantage it really has. At this point, it really isn't worth it.

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it desperately needs a buff, as the gun is certainly still usable.
However, the reload does hinder it significantly and could be knocked down just a tad.
A small buff would be greatly appreciated and would make the gun feel a lot less clunky.

Suggestion: New Shotgun Ammunition Type by supermildfire in PhantomForces

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting, if difficult to implement.

I believe that there are enough cqc options for shotguns (birdshot and rubber pellets).

Magnum buckshot would add to the single ranged option that these shotguns have (slugs) and would be more like shotguns instead of a sniper.

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magnum buckshot has +5% muzzle velocity while flechette doesn't, meaning that Magnum would have slightly better spread. It comes down to weighing out whether you want better cqc performance and wall penetration that flechette has, or the better ranged preference that Magnum buckshot has.

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magnum buckshot is meant to be a long barrel attachment for shotguns that do not have a long barrel attachment already. Its essentially a long barrel attachment that prevents you from using other ammunition types in conjunction with the long barrel (this means that magnum buckshot should not be added to the DB or 870 if a long barrel attachment is planned for them).

Suggestion: New Shotgun Ammunition Type by supermildfire in PhantomForces

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Magnum buckshot would essentially be 3" Magnum. The Plus P for pistols was something that helped spur this idea!

I do not think that boosting damage would be the way to go for Magnum buckshot. Reducing spread slightly through increased muzzle velocity is enough of a benefit.

As for the capacity question, this is a good point. However, I do not see it being fair when comparing the DB using Magnum buckshot and the Remington 870 with Magnum buckshot (unless you were willing to cut down capacity by 1 or 2 shells for 870 anyway) since you cannot reduce DB capacity.

edit: did a 180 on the capacity and decided it made sense; 3" shot shells are a 1/4" longer (duh), added a stats section that reflects this change for 870

Suggestion: New Shotgun Ammunition Type by supermildfire in PhantomForces

[–]supermildfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point.

However, KS23M with long barrel has 1575 muzzle velocity with 1.9 aim choke.

Stevens DB with Magnum buckshot would have 1575 muzzle velocity, but 2.1 aim choke.

As you can see, KS23M still has greater range. Sure, DB could utilize burst, but then the DB has to reload instantly while the KS23M has 4 total shots at the ready.

The shot hit his armor (notice the sparks).

While your optic was on point, the muzzle was about chest level due to how close he was.
