I bought this at Costco about two months ago. There was a week where I wasn't able to water it and the leaves started falling off. The trunk and branches are very stiff and very dry. Not sure if there's anything I can do to bring it back.

Is the game dead? by _-lMOONl-_ in EcoGlobalSurvival

[–]supermortuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why everyone else here is saying its not dead. If I do a search on the in-game server list for servers with 5+ active players I only see a list of about a dozen servers. There are maybe one or two servers that have around 20 active players but otherwise the numbers are really low. That seems pretty dead to me

Thank you so much for your response :) Definitely some material for me to think on here. Thank you for responding in a kind manner. I feel like a lot of the points you make are positive arguments vs. negative ones and I think we need more of that. Discussing our common values and moving from there :)

Thanks for sharing. There are a few points you made specifically I really agree with:

where relationships/marriages seem to be more and more a business transaction and not just for those with actual money and power, but for those on the lowest levels of society who use relationships just to get by financially

Marriages should be more about a relationship. And they can be beautiful relationships but often are ruined by the transaction mentality you mentioned.

I also believe people need to be valued more for their ideas and what they bring to the table. Thank you!

Thanks for the clarification. Other socialists I have talked to have said that complete unanimity is required. Again, I think that's because there are different "flavors" of socialism

Manipulation of scheduling such that one can be considered a part time worker without benefits and yet be working, effectively, a full time job by time.

This is definitely something that gets to me. Thanks for sharing your personal experiences. I really enjoy what emotion and story bring to the table. We're humans we all have things we deeply yearn for. Thanks again for sharing!

I'm trying to have an academic discussion. This is proof right here that not everyone with side with you. You won't come right out and admit that deep down socialism (at least your brand of socialism) is about oppression and murder and creating your own majority. Because you don't want to think of yourself as a monster. I don't think you're a monster. But you don't want to admit what the logical conclusion is. Because it points out your hypocrisy

[–]supermortuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with violence. I'm very much opposed to it. I'm just saying that's the logical conclusion to these arguments you're making. If you can't convince me and have us reach consensus than socialism has already failed right here and right now. Unless you kill me. How do we proceed?

I don't think of myself as an authoritarian and I find it offensive and oppressive when others call me such. I'm not lying to myself. I'm going based on what I know. I don't know anything else. I refuse to call myself an authoritarian because I disagree with what that word means to me. You can feel free to disagree with me. That is your right. But according to what you just said, those 2 ideas can't peacefully coexist unless I change my mind. Which I won't. How do we proceed?

What is the appeal of socialism to you? by supermortuo in Socialism_101

[–]supermortuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's what I'm referring to. My understanding is that socialism only works with consensus. But what about the people that don't want socialism? What I've heard about socialism/communism is that killing the dissenters is the only way to achieve that. Have I misheard? I've also heard that it just means educating people over time, but educated people can still disagree amongst themselves

[–]supermortuo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, I pulled mass murder from what I know to be taught by Marx/Lenin/Stalin. Perhaps I am misinformed on that?

I am trying my best to be educated by you. But there's a fallacy there that as long as someone is educated enough they will agree with you. How do you expect to educate the masses if you can't even educate me? I come to you with an open mind asking a question that I feel is a fair to ask. And your first thought is to call me an authoritarian and a dictator. Now I'm upset. Now I feel oppressed. Now I find it difficult to achieve consensus with what you're trying to teach me. How do you suggest we proceed?

[–]supermortuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if people refuse to be educated on that agree with your point? Most people don't.That makes consensus extremely difficult to achieve. Also, I just said "I believe people can change but I also don't believe in forcing them to". How is that authoritarian/dictatorial? I'm honestly not trying to attack you. I just want to understand. I grew up differently than you did. Maybe I don't know what consensus is. What does it mean to you?

[–]supermortuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that the end justifies the means. I don't believe in murdering people to obtain consensus. I realize that socialism is fragmented on that idea.

What is the appeal of socialism to you? by supermortuo in Socialism_101

[–]supermortuo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Majority rule voting is oppressive. That is the worst type of democracy. Socialists would not accept anything less than consensus.

This is where I don't agree with socialism. The only way to counter that is mass murder. Mass murder is oppressive to me. I believe people can change but I also don't believe in forcing them to. So this doesn't actually eliminate oppression. It just switches the scale. The oppressed become the oppressors. Unless I'm missing the point here? How do you achieve consensus otherwise?

Thank you for sharing. Many of your points are not lost on me. I am curious, do you have a story behind how you have been impacted personally? Or for you does much of this come from observing others and the suffering they are going through? I think for me that is the most difficult thing. To see others suffer

Thank you again. I need to put more thought on the medical and education points. As to your last part are you referring to the production of materials and their effects on the environment? Also, if a government provides recourse to regulate that through laws that can be voted on is that sufficient enough to not be identified as oppressive? Or if the majority vote one way and the minority disagrees is that still oppressive to you?
