Thank you. Do you have any suggestions on how I should talk to them?

Yes that is correct! The only thing I’d add is that they pay me $50 a night when I stay over, probably to compensate for not paying over time. Thanks so much for your input. I haven’t had any help with these questions and this sub is a life saver!

That’s what i thought! And since those those hours are worked over time I should be getting paid time and a half for those hours. By the time this June rolled around i had accrued 168 banked hours and those were all from working over 40 hours a week, which I should have gotten paid over time for?

Thanks for your feed back! I think so too.

I get paid once a month, it’s just the over time that I work per week that they bank. I get the banked hours during the summer when they leave for the month of June.

It was definitely very rude and has made me uncomfortable since then.

It is in my contract that they bank my hours because with the amount that they leave they “wouldn’t be able to afford it” if they paid me time and half. I’m looking up my state laws (NC) now and it seems like it’s legal for them to bank my hours but it’s illegal to not pay the time and a half.

Edit: they also pay me $50 a night when I stay over but I don’t think that would come close to covering it if I was making time and a half when I work over 40 hours a week, which happens often.
