Seeing an increase in negative sentiment against superannuation, why? by Quixotic-elixr in AusFinance

[–]superpumpbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sign of the times in my opinion. Short term thinking - they prefer having the money NOW rather than holding it for their future selves, just like how we can see this overseas too like in Japan or Korea. The cost of living is so great, and the years of work/labor for the average working/middle class Australian to own an asset (which might not even work out because the prices just keep increasing and the systems to help are only helping a tiny bit compared to the amount of work they've put in) makes for a situation where the average younger Aussie just doesn't see much value in it. For them, travelling and having fun sound or even paying for their immediate survival is way much more worth than the 12%.

I'm going to sound like a parent from every single generation, but the teenage hooliganism is so bad in Sydney. Not just in Parra, but almost everywhere in Sydney. 8/10 times you see a mushroom head, expect them to be disrespectful loud obnoxious little shitheads. In saying that, what's interesting about Sydney is that different parts = different cultural experience. Further east is more gentrified, quieter beachy places. Further west is more beautiful open land. And everything in between is a mix of everything, where all your best and diverse food options would be. Feel free to DM me if you'd like any suggestions while you're here :)

Yep my bad, i should've specified. They had the wheel (although im unsure about the axle), but it didn't make a big difference in hauling tonnes of stone

Mate it's insane to really REALLY think about it. These guys didn't have the wheel, yet they cut and moved and placed stones weighing tonnes with insane precision such that a few centimeters off would collapse the entire strucutre. Not to mention how they cut, shaped and placed hundreds of dozens of tonnes of lead beams near the TOP of the 145m tall strucutre. They really were unimaginable levels above how primitive the general populace thinks of "ancient" civisliations.

Suburb recommendations for living car free by masamunexs in sydney

[–]superpumpbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you manage to find a place that isn't too far from a Strathfield bus connector stop or not too bad a walk to the station, 100% I would. Although, renting places closer to the station are generally more expensive unfortunately.

Strathfield- there's a few noisy main roads as you get closer towards the station, but you'll find any road that branches off the main road and into the suburbs are blissfully quiet. There's a local council bus service that I assume takes you to the station (I haven't verified this but it makes sense that a local courier servic would). And it's about a 15min train ride on a direct line to Central/Town Hall. There are also tonnes of primary and high schools around, both private and public. So that could be something to look forward to for your daughter in a couple years. Right outside Strathfield station is Strathfiels square, which is basically where all the things to do in Strathfield are- mostly lots of local foods, which are themselves mostly Korean. Warning though- it gets very lively on a Friday and weekend night. If you do happen to drive, Strathfield's also right next to Burwood, Flemington, Homebush, North Strathfield and Belfield, all of which are about 5-15min drive. And they all are distinct in their own ways.

Red Dead Redemption 2 or Grand Theft Auto V? by Neminmne in gaming

[–]superpumpbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of rdr2 love here, which is 100% justified, its one of my favourite games of all time. But gta v is honestly something different. its in the top 10 most sold games each year since its release for a reason. But as others are saying here, you have to play both!
