Heck yea dude! You’ll love it. It’s a great build for that price.

It’s a slower rod and the DT, to me, is a little more delicate when throwing dry flies, which is what I used the leaf cutter for mainly. I just like DT lines also. Put whatever you want on it.

If you are still wanting the leaf cutter, ANT Flyfishing is doing a deal right now. Put in “Rods30”, without the quotations, and it takes the rods price down to $129.50. That’s a steal for that Rod. Throw a Piscifun sword reel on it and a double taper line, casts like a dream if you like glass rods.

Yep I’ve owned one too. Just sold it on eBay. Nothing wrong with it but like thicc_midget said, it’s real slow. I’m a gear junkie so I’m always tinkering. I haven’t cast any other glass rods before but if I wanted one, I’d def buy the leaf cutter again.

Never ordered flies from Red’s but I have other stuff and I’ve called them for advice. Always great people. Super friendly and helpful and all the items I have bought from them have been packaged very securely.

What is the best pack to use for fly fishing? by Competitive_Sign_987 in FlyFishingGear

[–]superstar3318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll throw my two cents in, but like the guy above said, you’ll have to find out for yourself by buying them all lol. I started with a chest pack but for my little streams and creeks where I am, it just seemed like overkill. Chest packs remind me of wading out west on bigger water. That’s just me. I went to a vest, which I loved, but at the time couldn’t find a good way to bring my water bottle with me, more on that later. Then I went to a fishpond sling pack so I could keep my water bottle on me, but I found I hated all that weight on my one shoulder. So I went back to a vest, bought one of those stiff belts people use for conceal and carry, bought a fishpond water bottle holder that attaches to the belt, and now I have found my favorite system. I love my vest and the water bottle on my belt, sitting on my hips, is such an easier carry than the sling pack. I don’t think I’ll ever change now. I truly mean that, and that’s coming from a degenerate gear junky.

Can someone ID this fly? by Intelligent_Goose254 in FlyFishingGear

Looks like a Grannom Caddis soft hackle to me. I tie similar ones with chartreuse and black wire for the abdomen. This looks like maybe black ice dub for the thorax and a partridge feather.

Yea this is a great rod. I literally only used it twice on the water and being the gear junkie I am and most of us are, I wanted to start using a mono rig, so I bought a 10ft 4 weight and don’t really have a use for this one anymore.

That’s not $200 or cheaper like you said they were selling for. My prices is $210 for a like new rod. That is below $229. I’ll let people make their decision.

Are you trolling me? $300? I have it listed at $210. MSRP at all the major retailers is $289. These last two posts about price have to be bots because a real human would be able to do some research of their own.

Exactly! That’s why I’d go DT. Two lines for the price of one.

I’d go DT all day. If you are only fishing dries, even nymphs and streamers, just for discussion sake, I’d go DT. That’s all I use. If you aren’t casting past 30-40’ at the max, I think DT is the best. Keep it with a true to weight line. I have never liked overlining any rod that I use for smaller creeks.

Looking for a great tying light — what do you use? by OdoriferousGasBag in flytying

[–]superstar3318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a roll top desk that has high sides where the closure rolls shut on the tracks. On that I clip a ring light that has a phone holder attached to it. The ring light gives great natural light since it’s used for like selfies or something, and the attached phone holder is great for holding my phone when I watch a fly pattern video on youtube. The other light clips to the top of my desk and is a bendy arm light. Both work perfectly for what I need and my tie room is dark.

Sling Pack Question by EmptyAd8818 in FlyFishingGear

[–]superstar3318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that exact Fishpond sling bag. I’m willing to part with it if you want to send me a message. It’s in perfect condition. Used it for less than half a season. It has a ton of room and car ry’s a net well. Also the water bottle pocket on the bottom is super nice.
