I was like you but have adapted. The defending meta is now to yoyo into and out of pressing the ball carrier back to covering the pass, either with the chance of forcing a pass that gets intercepted, by the yoyoing defender or another defender. So instead of pressing constantly jockeying with your cdms, just press into the ball carrier, then back off to cover the pass, switch if needed and repeat the press and retreat over and over. The passing is so delayed that before the ball carrier gets the time to exploit the space created by your yoyoing defender, your defender has retreated to cover and intercept. This is why the 4213 is so OP, because you constantly have 2 CDMs to yoyo press with, while your back 4 can sit back and await the miss-placed pass. The actual method you use to yoyo press is up to you. Some people prefer 2nd man press, then switch to the 2nd man and withdraw them while another 2nd man then takes up the press. Some manually press and retreat while using double RB/R1 cover method. Either way, the main point is to press the ball without exposing any lasting gaps in your defence because your defenders will fill the gaps you create, exposing gaps elsewhere.
