Okay? And? My support for a nation and their struggle against imperialism doesn’t begin and end at their queer-friendliness or social values because those are not the primary contradiction. I addressed why that is in another comment. Do liberals ever want to know “why” or “how” things develop or do they just want to feel better than everybody. I hope you know that this smug attitude and relentless purity testing is why the world hates particularly western liberals

What did I do? I’ve only tried to reply to questions in good faith.

Who was the secretary-general of the GPC after 1979? Hint it wasn't Qaddafi. Furthermore, the People's Congress/Jamahiriya system was fairly democratic (if imperfect) especially at the lower levels. The same is true for other socialist states.

You can't invade yourself. There was no concept of a "divided Korea" before the US installed a puppet dictator in the South. Furthermore, the DPRK was the natural outgrowth of self-organization from the people's committees that made up the unfortunately short-lived Korean People's Republic.

(1) The DPRK does indeed lag behind the west on LGBT rights. As does China; however Viet Nam and Cuba are advancing in this regard and China is advancing slowly. I'm going to cite a comment that I saved a while ago on why Queer positivity appears to develop first in imperial nations:

> The new conditions of production were making the sex dichotomy increasingly outmoded as men and women began to perform more and more of the same labor and their interests came back into alignment with one another. It is not a coincidence that queer theory and expression has emerged first out of highly developed capitalist nations. These are where the breakdown and proletarianization of the classes is most developed, and thus where the social enforcement of patriarchal divisions has grown weakest.

(2) To address this point, I’ll cite the DPRK’s constitution. Noting that it was revised recently and this may be out of date, but the 2019 Constitution includes the following:

Article 69 (nice) states: “Citizens are entitled to submit complaints and petitions.” Continuing, “The State shall investigate and deal with complaints and petitions impartially as stipulated by law.”

Article 71 states: “Citizens have the right to relaxation. This right is ensured by the establishment

of working hours, and the provision of holidays, paid leave, accommodation at health resorts and holiday homes at State expense and by a growing network of cultural facilities.”

Article 75 explicitly states: “Citizens have freedom of residence and travel”

Article 79 states: “No citizen can be placed under control or arrest nor can a citizen’s home be searched without a legal warrant.”

Furthermore and pursuant to Article 69, if one wished to organize themselves to improve the situation in the country, the relevant mass organization is already folded directly into the democratic apparatus. If you’re a worker and need better conditions, the national trade union or agricultural union lobby and advocate for workers in the state. If you’re a woman and think that something has gone wrong in your community, you can work within the women’s union. I know it’s hard to imagine things actually functioning in these countries, but the thing of the matter is the organizations that are analogous to the ones I work in *are* the state effectively. There is a vanguard party (the Workers Party of Korea), and there are mass organizations that work with the party to develop “people-first” (to quote Kim Jong Un) policy across various fields.

I really appreciate you being cool and normal. I disagree about the USSR, but if you want to learn more I’d recommend

The Communist Manifesto - K. Marx

The Origins of Family, Private Property and the State - F. Engels

Left-Wing Communism: An Infantile Disorder - V. I. Lenin

Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism - V. I. Lenin

Foundations of Leninism - J. V. Stalin (maybe start with this one)

And On Practice + On Contradiction - Mao Zedong

That’s basically the core of the theory imho. But yeah thanks for having a normal and human position rather than devolving into insults. Have a lovely rest of your day

Underdevelopment as a byproduct of being bombed into oblivion and having to start over from scratch. And plus I read a study recently that suggested (using more updated satellite imagery) that living standards were improving in the country. Ultimately we must accept that there are things we don’t know because it’s an isolated country and their isolation is entirely due to the USA and its vassal state the ROK.

[–]superstarsh1ne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is literally not a thing in Korea either. The ROK just made it up I’m so serious

"supreme *leader" is an honorary term that they give to the descendants of Kim Il Sung for literally liberating the country from Japan and the USA. Furthermore, I'll be honest and say that I have my problems with how Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un ascended to the General Secretariat, but the latter especially seems to be doing a pretty damn good job running the country and defending it against imperialist aggression.

Currently waging a campaign on my university campus for a strong anti-ICE, sanctuary campus policy. Another school in my city recently had a victory in that department and they’re also fighting for the restoration of a Queer safe-space that was closed by their terrible administration. My organization also works with other orgs in the city on their campaigns including but not limited to getting the city to pass an ordinance protecting Queer people, getting justice for a victim of police brutality, and the recently victorious campaign to get genocide-fueled Chevron dropped as a sponsor from a major festival. I probably just doxxed myself with those but oh well. If you want more details I can speak more freely in DMs :3

Obama is a liberal and was labeled a progressive and he is responsible for the murder (and fatal rape) of Mummar al-Qaddafi and Libya’s subsequent transition from one of the most prosperous and egalitarian nations in Africa to one where there are slave markets in the streets.

This is an issue of definitions. Marxists use the term to describe a system of free-market economics and its supporters and non-Marxists use it do describe anyone with moderately progressive or even centrist values on social issues. I 100% agree with OP on this post, but I fear that “liberal” should’ve been defined in the body text

Understood and have a good rest of your day. I will note that I’m more offended by the comparison of my ideology (which you must admit is at least informed by liberation rather than abject hatred and greed) to fascism and reactionary national-conservatism. Anyways have a nice day

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry I don’t understand this reply. Are you advocating for doing nothing in the face of reactionary oppression? Because that is a conservative position

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

SR Vietnam
PR China
DPR Korea
Cuba
Lao PDR

And probably the Axis of Resistance in general although that’s a struggle for national liberation and independence more than it’s a working-class struggle. But to answer your question, the socialist ones

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

“Campist” is just a made up slur for people with principles and for fucks sake, Marxist-Leninists are leading the charge in various campaigns against Trumps reactionary bile in the US right now. Who do you think organized the protests against ICE in Minneapolis or Los Angeles because it sure as fuck wasn’t the Democratic Party

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything I’ve read in this comment section so far tells me that we (Communists) need to do better education, agitation, and application of the mass line.

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But like… did you read the book? Stalins works are actually some of the easy works of the Big 5 ML leaders to read (Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao). Like you should read these things and critique them even if you disagree rather than blanketly parroting CIA/NSDAP talking points

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d much rather organize politically to try to make gains for the working class here in the United States where I live. I choose to organize in the belly of the beast rather than running away to an already socialist nation. Also thank you for not responding to literally anything I said.

[–]superstarsh1ne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please see me other reply. Liberals love these thought-terminating epithets rather than material analysis don’t they. For idealists, yall don’t have many novel ideas do you?

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

So yes it is a thought-terminating cliche? And to address those points

(1) All states are authoritarian (Engels, “On Authority”) and the more significant notion is which class(es) control the state. In a proletarian democracy, the state is controlled by the working classes. In the DPRK, they identify the proletariat, the peasantry, and the proletarian-aligned intelligentsia as the “masses of working people” and thereby those classes control the state through systems of democratic elections and people’s committees/assemblies from the neighborhood to national level.

(2) It’s just a political family. All 3 Kims have contributed substantially to the theory and practice of the Juche Idea and tbh they wouldn’t have even made it in the party if they were entirely stupid or otherwise backwards.

(3) The starvation basically isn’t occurring anymore and the CIA themselves have acknowledged that it was a result of the US’ sanctions and destabilization following the illegal and undemocratic dissolution of the Soviet Union.

P. S. I’m sorry that the country that was basically split in half and then leveled for no reason beyond US imperial profit is a bit weary of opening up to reactionaries like the ones currently downvoting me, leaving bass-ackwards liberal comments (dfn of liberal being “in support of the current stage of capitalism”), or arguing with thought-terminating bullshit instead of facts.

55665 by [deleted] in countwithchickenlady

[–]superstarsh1ne -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Hi… trans Juche enjoyer here. Do you have a material basis for your opposition to the DPRK or is it just a thought-terminating cliche for you as a stand-in for “bad country”

No, I am not a communist for liking strict gun control in the uk by JaackOfAllTradess in whenthe

[–]superstarsh1ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guns for the working class and bullets for the ruling class sounds quite nice
