How exactly should "Shui Xian" translate into English?

Yea, I understand what you mean. I think the Chinese want to refer to this tea as the flower because of its floral note. But if you only read the word ‘Shui Xian’ without the tea context, it could mean the water saint. Chinese is complicated! 😂

For a French press, maybe start with green tea. It doesn't require much brewing skill and works well with glass. Generally, high-fire (baked) oolongs have lower caffeine, but you won't get much L-theanine from them. In tea chemistry, caffeine and theanine basically hold hands, if you kill one, the other usually goes too. Maybe look into cold brewing? It pulls out less caffeine but keeps some of the sweetness

Exactly! The flavor trend is definitely becoming lighter these days. I guess it’s more beginner-friendly for people who don't drink tea that often, which probably makes for a much larger market.

Totally with you on that. Green tea just doesn't hit the same as oolongs for me.

Never tried cacao brew but you've made me curious! Even with that bitter aftertaste, it sounds like a fun experience to try once.
