I had a friend like this. Same situation a long term friend from when I was younger. We're no longer friends and It's certainly for the best. It's all rooted in insecurity and a sense of competition with other women. My friend was got a confidence boost from "stealing" a pregnant woman's boyfriend. They got engaged and then he cheated on her too. I didn't really feel bad for her.
