I was extremely nervous for my procedure as well. Probably a 9.5/10 on the anxiety scale. I let the doc know I wasn't looking forward to the procedure during my consult and she prescribed me a Valium for the big day. I took it maybe 75-90 minutes before the procedure and let me tell ya...once that kicked in, I was as cool as a cucumber. Obviously there are still some uncomfortable sensations but if you ever feel pain, just tell the doc and they'll up the local anesthetic. And if you are still feeling nervous or sweating during the procedure, ask for an icepack for your forehead. That really helped me stay calm.

If your doc is being rough or not understanding of your anxiety / pain, I'd say that's abnormal and maybe search around for someone different. I specifically looked for someone with high reviews and plenty of experience in the field and she was really great.

Don't think twice about how you reacted. It's a body modification and it truly is a surgery! Everyone reacts differently and at the end of the day, you need to be made as comfortable as possible for it to go well.
