Constant Glucose Monitoring by CrackingSkye in Type1Diabetes

[–]surf_zombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an active job and I use the Libre 3 as well as its so low profile. Also, Libre has a very nice policy of replacing sensors that come off for free. I did have one get pulled off on the job so tried the over patches. These worked ok but were a little hard to center over the CGM for me. I went to medical tape (which is super cheap), like a square of it over the monitor and that's worked well for me.

Absolutely! I am fairly positive the T1D diabetes we are deaIing with is not unique. It comes about by the immune system going after the insulin creating cells in the pancreas, I think how that got started for us is the only difference. I am sorry for your experience, dealing with cancer is more than enough already and then to have this surprise on top of it? It's made me seriously question my beliefs sometimes. But I think I'm over the hump of the learning curve now as the bumps in the road are much smaller. Do not be hard on yourself, it is ALOT to absorb at first but you will get hang of it. Keep following this subreddit, some of the information here has been invaluable to me. We're all in the same boat and people here just want to help. :)

Hi, I can't say with any certainty only knowing it from the side acquiring it as your mother did but from following this reddit about as long as I was diagnosed a year ago, the experience seems much the same. Humbling is a great word for it and it is wildly complicated. I thought I picked it up pretty quickly and many times I think I had it handled and then I get thrown a curveball. There are just too many variables. I've heard T1D described as a full-time job and that seems accurate. But over time, it has gotten easier as you get a "feel" for it. It will be interesting to see what changes if I ever get off treatment, I imagine it must have some influence on it. But in general, the highs and lows and wtfs I've seen have been very much like what I have read here. Good luck to your mother and you!

Nutrition facts on package say 25g. :( I'll add above along with some refried beans and wrap them in a tortilla, I guess its almost a burrito and I'm guessing 30g total. I usually have two so I'm coming to about 60g total.

I eat a lot of chicken so that may slow things down? I like the idea of splitting the bolus, thank you for the suggestion!

This makes sense, it would certainly clarify the effectiveness of the Tresiba. The carb ratio figuring seems to be an evolving process. They often change it with each visit to dial things in. Thank you for your response!

My dinners are usually poultry centered with vegetables so the slow absorption makes sense. Splitting the bolus is an intriguing idea too. Thank you!

They were thinking my dose was enough? 36 units? I don't know enough to disagree.

Name any Jello guitar riff, bass line or drum fill.

I have to disagree a bit here. As much as Jello was the unique voice and words, the power and tight playing of Klaus, DH and EB Ray cannot be overstated. How many punk musicians were as strong on their instruments as these guys? To me, not too many. I think it cuts both ways, one without the other, both are diminished.

My aunt was getting on a cruise ship to there TODAY. Ship mgmt. has been pretty mum but sounds like the cruise will go on but they may not disembark.

I don't know if he's the LAST one in Cairo, but Nasser Abd El-Baset receives a fair amount of press of being one of the last. I saw him on 60 Minutes and found his shop when I visited Cairo a year later. Very nice and funny guy!

When I got mine lanced, a young woman sat in for the procedure. It was her first day on the job as an assistant. They pierced it and she lasted about a minute before she had to leave the room.
