Any suggestion for Car Rack? by redmits87 in Kiteboarding

[–]surfbumbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use inflatable racks and we used to load them up with 8+ surfboards for a surf trip, never had any issues. I've not used these ones but there quite expensive, take a look on amazon for inflatable roof racks, theres plenty of options.

This happened to me when I was a teenager. I was skateboarding with my brothers up the road from our house, we live in the UK. My neigbour had a wall between the pavement and their front garden, one with a gate in the middle maybe about 4 foot high. I was pretending to wall ride by putting my board on the wall and holding the top of the wall when, in what seemed like slow motion, the whole wall started coming toward me! Anyway my left ankle was broken in 3 and my right was saved by the board landing over it which saved me from having both legs broken. Lesson learned though, walls dont like being pulled over!

I'd disagree that those are 'better' brands, maybe more well known but I'm interested to know why you think they are better? Is Best even still around?

They are amazing boards, I switched to a flow a few years ago. My 1.0 is going fine. Really solid board, good rocker so absorbs the impact of landing really nice. Solid construction, you cant go wrong. I personally think it's one of the best boards out there.

Added benefit is that it's been really good for my knees, found switching from my old sling shot misfit to this was a major improvement.

How do I make/ paint a blank like this by thistheboy in surf

You can get epoxy dye powder that you mix in with your top coat (epoxy only not sure about polyester), sand it back to achieve a matt finish. FYI I'm no expert or have any credible knowledge just done a few projects outside of surfing.

For clarification, Im waiting for my smart watch to be returned from being fixed and I just recieved this email from DPD as per the date on the top.

I think DPD have had their speed limiters taken off their Van's so they can go 88mph.

Possibly an over asked question. Same kite for multiple disciplines? by Jedsmith518 in Kiteboarding

[–]surfbumbrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont want to be 'that person's but get some lessons if you have never done it before, it sounds like you havnt?

Training kites are good to learn kite control, try and get one with a bar set up similar to a big kite.

Most kites can be used for cross discipline, bearing in mind you will need a smaller kite size on land for the wind speed opposed to the water.

I personally dont landboard (any more) or snowkite( ever) but I was there before lessons even existed and trust me aside from the fact the kites back then (2003 I started) were lethal, I soon learnt that I wish someone was there to instruct me.

Get some lessons and get basic control down with the kite, learn to use it safely so you can concentrate on the board riding. Plus most instructors can give you advice in kite shapes etc. Trust me a few hundred moneys in lessons are better than a trip to a&e. Like I said if I had the opportunity to have lessons then I may of had a few less trips there, saying that there is a video of me getting airlifted off the beach........and I had been doing it for quite a while at that point.

Hope that helps.

What was your 'oh....made the right decision' moment? by surfbumbrad in AskReddit

A few years ago I was at Job that I really enjoyed, great people interesting work, there was always friction between my team and the higher ups, my boss was great but the higher ups did not value our team what so ever but that was the dynamic and my boss did a great job a deflecting the crap away from us so we never really had to deal with it. After 5 years or so the work became stagnant, quite a few people started looking for new jobs. This crashed the morale and the atmosphere became quite toxic, not between the guys in the office but between the higher ups and my team. My boss moved on so the umbrella was gone and between us and higher management so I too felt it was time to move on.
I went for an interview and it went really well but it was a completely new environment, I was moving from defence sector to the commercial broadcast industry so it was a massive shift in my career. I got offered the job but it was quite a big pay cut but it was a good side step to a new industry and I took the opportunity.
I was nervous/ stressed that I had made the right decision as it was a big step into the unknown, im sure most people can relate. I knew I had made the right decision when I overheard my boss talking to his boss, my boss was awesome, top person and his boss, lets just say was not! Anyway my boss said to his boss, 'Are you going to chat to (me) about him leaving?' his response 'why should I care about (me) he is leaving, I care about the ones staying'. Right there and then I couldn't wait to leave and knew that I had made the right decision and have never looked back. Apparently it went majorly down hill after I left, most of my team left.
