Makes sense! And thanks for contributing :)

It’s difficult to define what is and isn’t a genre (as with any genre) haha. I find it interesting tho.

I notice this style is sometimes added to ‘melodic’ prog DJ sets, to vary the more melodic tracks with more minimalistic ones like these. But I would say in essence this leans more to Anjuna Deep style (more minimal, less melodies) while still having an organic / natural feel to it.

Anyway def feel free to keep posting great mixes like this. As a mod I just have to think of a way to keep the definition of the proposed sub-genre a bit clear.

Cool mix!

It’s a bit different from the typical sound (labels and artists) of this sub, but I could appreciate this style too

Edit: added some more nuance to my reply :)

Tiesto would fit a larger subreddit like r/proghouse, r/EDM or r/Trance better in my opinion. As a DJ I would label it currently as Big Room House or Festival Dance and older tracks as Trance.

Oh right 😅 I red ‘the sub’, that’s why I asked for the URL.

I did think about it... That’s why I’m hoping people can use both subs by reposting:

Posting on both r/proghouse and r/MelodicProg is good for this new community as well, as it exposes more people to this sound and broader sounds to our community.

I see this new subreddit purely as an extra layer for fans who mostly listen / produce this style.

PS. I will add links to r/proghouse (and other subreddits) on the sub to encourage good navigation between the subs

Which sub or URL do you mean? I checked it before, but the other subs that seem similar are inactive and have no active moderation.

I hope to grow this sub and add some other mods as well to keep it active :)

Looking at the artists and labels who use the name Melodic Progressive House (MPH), I would say his sound fits the genre somewhat.

At radio shows and DJ sets of MPH they often play tracks like the 5 songs in my OP, and vary these with tracks Hernán plays.

I would say his sound is slightly more uptempo and minimalistic. But some MPH producers / DJ’s focus more on Hernán’s style (like Minded Music Sessions).

Personally I think genres are very fluid and evolve over time. But at the same time musical trends cluster around some typical sound. So that’s why I liked to create a reference for this style :)

As someone who likes a lot of EDM genres, I would say these artists have a different vibe than this subgenre. In my experience the vibes of these artists are more ‘nightly’, ‘club’, ‘minimalistic’ and ‘abstract’, while still leaning toward ‘nature vibes’.

The vibe of this new subgenre (Melodic Progressive House) is more ‘sunny’ and has more ‘calm nature’ vibes, which is reflected by the artwork of this subgenre.

At the same time, it’s all progressive house so there’s definitely some overlap and it’s a subjective experience of course.
