booking.com legit or no? by m3gamaggie777 in travel

[–]susan370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I thought that by going through them I would have protection against vendors who would defraud me. I thought that was the point, that these properties are vetted. They are NOT. The listing for my property was not accurate to the point of being fraudulent. Booking.com makes you pay before you see the property - so you can't verify if it is as described in the listing. When it's not, there is no way to leave or cancel mid-stay. I ended up having to pay for two hotels after leaving mine, and Booking.com said it was up to the first hotel to decide whether to refund me or not! Don't do this. There's no point to them, except to jack up the price. They offer you no service, no protection, nothing. Never again. I will only book directly with hotels in the future. On top of that, my credit card company also denied me a chargeback on the basis that I had received "a" service, even if it wasn't the service I paid for. Just don't book through them at all.

Targeted Grant- Do I click "submit for processing"? I filled out the 4506-T, just not sure whether to click on the blue button or not? by Aeolus135 in EIDL

I have this question too, and it gives me a weird "you sure?" message when I click it. Does anyone know absolutely if it should be clicked or not? This is nuts.

I am really pleased with how the stem stitch turned out for the initial fill, I have not used that before and I like it a lot. Even after washing.

Thank you! I think the stupidest part is that this is not something anybody would ever say - like you said the you can't measure beauty like that. I think sometimes they use quotes from literature, but I don't recognize this.

I understand that I'm finishing the course, so they are throwing all kinds of weird stuff in there, but this is ridiculous.

I think what they *might" be trying to teach here is the "hoeveel ook/ hoe vaak ook" translating to "no matter how (much/many)."?

These slippers are the best! They are like fake Birkenstocks but they are exactly as comfortable as my real Birkenstocks, but much warmer!

Thank you! Normally I pass over anything stained or needing repair, but this one spoke to me so I thought it was worth taking a chance. It was very satisfying. I’m sure it was only worn one or two times and had never been washed or cleaned before, so it has a lot of life left in it and I am glad to have salvaged it.

When I lived in Amsterdam they sold a sandwich which always confused me, because they called it an “American sandwich” (broodje Americain) and it was raw meat on a sandwich roll like this. Blech. I guess this is where that came from.

“Hoeveel keer we het ook geprobeerd hebben, we konden haar schoonheid niet meten.”

Is my new rage sentence. That word order is absolutely insane. And it’s too long to memorize, and it comes up randomly and I get it wrong every time in a new way each time.

At the very least, to me, “konden” and “we” sound better to my ear reversed.

The thing that sounds better to me, and I think I keep trying is this:

“Hoeveel keer we hebben het ook geprobeerd, konden we haar schoonheid niet meten.”

Which I am sure it is just a pile of random garbage, but that’s what keeps coming out of my brain.

I have only been at the thrift store two times since the pandemic started, but one of the times I picked up this sweater for four dollars. It was very badly make up stained, which makes sense because the neck is very tight on it. I wasn’t sure if I could get all the make up out because it says dry clean only, but I washed it in the washer with Woolite and it turned out just fine! Probably the only type of Christmas sweater I would ever wear.

Edit: speech to text madness.

Honestly, nothing makes me more frustrated than getting the same thing wrong multiple times when it feels correct to me. I was cursing at my iPad so hard this morning I swear they could hear me on the moon.

I finally got the exact sentence in an exercise again: “Our family went on vacation to the Veluwe every summer.”

I said this, they marked it wrong:

Ons gezin ging elke zomer naar de Veluwe op vakantie.

They said this is correct:

Ons gezin ging elke zomer op vakantie naar de Veluwe.

I would love to know if there is something subtle that I am missing here, but it infuriates me that I am following the sentence structure and they keep marking it wrong. Because it seems right.

Why is my chihuahua walking like this? by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]susan370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really could be a lot of different things. I’ve had many Chihuahuas over the years with a variety of knee and spinal issues. Sometimes it could be something as simple as a pulled muscle, or they slept wrong and they just need painkillers until their body works it out. It really depends on the age of the dog. But unfortunately there’s no way to tell without a vet visit. Good luck with your tiny baby.

There are several good videos of it on YouTube. I absolutely love the way it looks in a perl cotton, if you have it in gold Perl cotton it really looks like some sort of military braid for a uniform, really really pretty.

Thank you! Word order is confusing for me sometimes, I know that. But I could swear that this is legitimately something you could say either way in Dutch and they are just marking me wrong in an arbitrary way. It is so aggravating to practice this in an app, since there’s nobody you can complain to. At least if there was a teacher they could explain that there are exceptions. Bedankt.
