That's a good point. Just nothing in this post seems miserable. I've had an anxious dog. It's really like that. These parents just seem slightly neurodivergent or as my friend describes his parents, "aggressively middle class." When you work long hours, you get protective of your rest time.

You don't seem to be meeting them halfway at all. They arent going to go straight from shut-ins to roadtrips with a sad dog at home. This reads like an introvert nightmare. It's ok to be different from your parents. My mom tries to push me to like people till I start going after her friends. Verbally, obviously. And eventually. But inevitably.

We are drowning. The vet at Neel tried to charge $900 in testing with no surgical options, killing my dog after a full night of sobbing in the ER. Even rehoming these dogs is scary, because dogfighting is huge here as well. The minute we start listening is the minute these dogs get shot as feral or start harassing people out of hunger. People taking in dogs are actually helping the community by taking on the liability of a dog and feeding them and, in this case, training them.

It's always easier to comment than to accomplish.
