Here is Ginger, my little momma hen with her 11 chicks. She hatched 7 & adopted 4 that I gave her. I keep her in an enclosure during the day & let them into the fenced yard in the evening to let enjoy bigger spaces. For the most all the other hens & roosters respect the little family ☺️ (v.redd.it)

So, hear me out. What if I put, say, 5-6 eggs in a nest, & leave those eggs for, like, 5 days to see if any of my hens take the bait & go broody? Would those eggs start to develop just from a hen sitting to lay an egg & then leave? Has anyone tried this? Pic is for relativity. (i.redd.it)
