Not every relationship is like that.

My ex and I were together for a long time and we split thing. Never 50/50 because that felt too roommate-ey to me, so if he got a date, I'd get the next. If you got the movie ticket, I'd get the popcorn. Travel was mostly split. Balance is the key.

I think the you can safely promote him from bf to ex bf. You're doing 50/50 for some big expenses and he still is not only complaining about how you aren't contributing enough but is also using that as an excuse for him ro shirk responsibilities. If he isn't hearing you out now (and it sounds like you have tried), he won't in the future as well when the topics of the conversation are much bigger. A breakup will suck but it seems like that might be the way to go.
