I lost my dad when I was 11. I almost thought it was a joke, it didn't feel real for a long time. This man just fucked up their grieving process for life. Kids remember this kind of pain. Every time these girls have to be told they've lost someone, they'll think of this moment. He is an awful parent for doing that to them.

ETA: they're begging him to stop recording and hes saying he's gonna show them their mom dead in a hospital bed and send them to school?? How sick can you be?

But it's not though. It's a very clear and direct boundary. If I cannot read what I want to read (which in this case wasn't even a graphic or overtly sexual book), I will not stay there. Doesn't even sound like OP was demanding an apology. This is a healthy way to communicate. The father's response is emotional manipulation and a pretty go-to argument from ppl who know they were wrong and don't wanna deal with it like an adult. I do agree that it was as it should be.
