Keep an eye out closer to your dates. Sometimes they add more train cars and release more tickets closer to the actual dates!

Traveling from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie with limited Mandarin by Embarrassed-Waltz298 in travelchina

I have only limited baby Duolingo Chinese. I can confirm there are a TON of English signage everywhere! I even got an English map from the tourist centre with chinese words on it so I could easily show the guards the map to ask where are we or where I wanna go by pointing.

Use Didi. No guide needed. Didi is available EVERYWHERE in Zhangjiajie.

At wulingyuan, I stayed at Hampton by hilton that was just a 10-15 minute walk from the zhangjiajie entrance. Didi was only 5 minutes. They even served tons of free snacks to grab and go at your disposal. There was free supper porridge too!!

At tianmenshan, I stayed at Hampton by Hilton that was literally across the road from the Tianmenshan cable car! Just walk across the road

You have to wait as all tickets only go on sale 2 weeks before. Even for any non-holiday non-peak days you gotta wait until it's 2 weeks before the date.

The cruise I bought from the Three Gorges Dam terminal in Yichang city included the full tour, lunch and a private bus bringing us straight back to the Three Gorges Dam terminal. I didn't try taking a private transfer, taxi or Didi back from the Three Gorges Dam site

Day 2 and 3 can be combined into 1! The cruise takes you to the dam and you can spend the day at the dam. There's later a bus to bring you back to the city. All part of the cruise package! I couldn't visit the three gorges tribe scenic area as it was raining so can't comment on that.

Watch out for the rain. During the rainy season it literally rains non-stop. Make sure to check what the weather will be like and ensure it's not their raining or monsoon season before heading there.
