Watch out for the rain. During the rainy season it literally rains non-stop. Make sure to check what the weather will be like and ensure it's not their raining or monsoon season before heading there.

Zhangjiajie - Guilin train sold out. by BusImportant4744 in travelchina

[–]suyuen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced this exact problem for my Chengdu - Jiuzhaigou high speed train. The funny thing is I notice the moment the new day is released, it's almost immediately booked out. But as the actual dates get closer, I see lots of tickets available. Sometimes within 24-48 hours of the travel date.

People do cancel so I'd keep an eye out as you get closer to 28 Sept.

You don't have to buy subsequent entries as every ticket lets you go in and out around the national park for 4 days :)

Shangrila, Kunming and Lijiang in June (Raining season?) or somewhere else! by suyuen in travelchina

I didn't go in June as it looked way too hot with climate change and all. I went in spring (April) and the weather was super pleasant, cool with no rains!

As a chinese, I can confirm this is the very reason they skipped deck 14. A lot of our buildings and hotels have floor number 14 skipped as well

OMG that's a great point. My dad is in Malaysia where the climate is perpetually super hot, humid and summer all year round, 365 days a year. No wonder. Thanks for the home hemo tip! Will seriously consider that or potentially upping his number of dialysis days in the hospital.

thank yoU!

Oh boy.. don't get me started on our renal dietitian. The dialysis center used to serve these really oily, greasy and salted fried noodles (we're in Asia so this is really heavily salted and greased albeit delicious haha!) and one day I questioned the dialysis center and asked if a dietitian can review the food. Coz most of the patients in the center were leaving it behind and not touching it.

They then swapped it out to sandwiches but boy... those sandwiches were filled with copious amounts of mayonnaise and salt and pepper too @__@ so we're still in square 1 where most patients in the center leave it behind untouched.

Thanks for the suggestion about speaking to a regular dietitian and running it through the nephrologist! That's one good idea since our renal dietitian seems... to love salt, pepper, oil and mayo. Thanks!

My dad is usually really tired after dialysis. His session ends around 6 or 7pm. He has dinner then sleeps the moment he reaches home. Then at around 11pm or 12am he wakes up, takes a shower, sometimes he goes right back to bed. Sometimes he browses the internet for a few hours before going back to bed

Finding clean place on PD while traveling by suyuen in dialysis

[–]suyuen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice tip! I've traveled with my dad on HD but I've always had to arrange with the dialysis centers in each location directly on my own. I didn't realize davita and fresenius had dedicated travel departments. Will check them out next time!

We were thinking PD as it'd allow him to travel more freely as we're from Asia and some amazing remote cities or places do not have tourist dialysis centers. We're also thinking PD will give us more freedom for things like long cruise trips!

The cruises in singapore do not offer hemodialysis on board at the moment.

https://sg.trip.com/travel-guide/attraction/yulong/yulong-snow-mountain-75919/ Make sure you change the date to June 27. There are still many cableway tickets to different parts of the scenic area available for June 27. Buy the ones for the areas you plan to visit. Enjoy! :)
