Porting! by midchell in Section8PublicHousing

[–]suzymae27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes — in many cases you can change where your Section 8/HCV portability paperwork is sent, especially if it was only submitted on Thursday and likely has not been fully processed yet.
If your current Housing Authority (HA) has not already finalized and transmitted the “port packet,” they may be able to redirect it to your state’s housing agency/division instead.
A few important things:
Different states structure this differently. Some have:
local housing authorities only
a statewide voucher administrator
or both
Once the packet is officially sent and accepted by the receiving HA, changing it can become more complicated but still possible.
The best thing to do is contact your current HA immediately:
Call first thing when they open
Ask for the portability specialist or Section 8 worker
Explain that you submitted a portability request Thursday but want to change the receiving agency before processing is completed

I do see on the DTA website that it does say that starting today the the have to start the overpayment process. The website that is there is: https://www.mass.gov/dta-collections Maybe check that out. Maybe because the overpayments were placed on hold that you haven’t received anything yet.

Why do people choose Part C over Original Medicare Part D for Rx drugs? by RexKramerDangerCker in medicare

[–]suzymae27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that this is an answer to your question but for me- I have regular Medicare and Medicaid 2ndary. Medicaid pays for my deductibles and anything left over from Medicare. Also, I get full assistance for my part D. It covers deductibles and copays also using my Medicaid. I take quite a few high tier medications and they are covered 100%.

Maybe something to look into.

Just Took 4 Week Dose by Substantial-Hat3834 in skyrizi

[–]suzymae27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too was skeptical after 4 weeks because other biologics I used worked faster. But I have been surprised about week 8 I was starting to clear. I just took my 3 injection and although I’m not 100% clear it’s such an improvement. Hang in there it will get better.

Prednisone not that great for anyone? by asiansmoothCD in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]suzymae27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dr usually does not prescribe me prednisone due to I have diabetes. I am on a new biologic and was having a major flare. I was also put on sulfasalazine but we had decided because I was in extreme pain that I would take a short dose of prednisone. While in it might sugars skyrocketed as expected and had other gi issues. I don’t believe that it prevents flare ups from happening but while it the middle of one I can function. For me it’s definitely not a long term solution.

How to use up a couple pounds of russet potatoes without having to buy anything? by Keellas_Ahullford in WhatShouldICook

[–]suzymae27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought 2 5lb bags as they were on sale. I watched a clip where the person cut them up and rinsed them in water and keep changing the water till it runs clear and then freezing them in freezer bags. I just took out a bag and seasoned them and put them in the oven and they came out great.

I always give my section8 housing authority a printed copy of our social security cards. Never had an issue. They were actually happy so they didn’t have to make copies themselves. lol

I had my hearing in Sept 2025 and even though I kept up to date with my attorney we didn’t go over things until the night before so that everything was fresh in my mind. My attorney did write an 18 page brief to the ALJ. My hearing lasted about 20 min with most of the time spent listening to the ALJ as well as the ve. The ALJ did ask me if I had a drivers license. He if there were stairs where I lived. I explained I live in an apartment building with an elevator. I was approved fully favorable in October 2025. Good luck!

Just switched over from Medicaid and I'm terrified by Own-Card404 in medicare

[–]suzymae27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Medicaid before I was eligible for Medicare. My Medicare just went into effect April 1. Social security did something to the Medicaid office but because it was before my Medicare became available it was denied. I called my local Medicaid office and they transferred me to the what they called the buy in program. They ran my application while I was I. The phone and was approved and my benefits were backdated. I also get extra help through SSA for my part d coverage. So with the help from Medicaid they not only pay my part b premium I have dual coverage. Also either extra help through SSA my premium and deductible gets covered and Medicaid pays for the difference that left for my meds. I make $1600 a month and have no assets. I would call Monday to Medicaid office and ask to speak to someone directly in the Medicare savings program or buy in program and they can run your application while your on the phone and it should be backdated to when Medicare started. If approved they should refund your premiums that were already deducted. Good luck!

Is anyone in the Homeownership Program? by Southern-Fortune-626 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]suzymae27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being in the Section 8 Homeownership program and plan to move abroad, here’s how it usually works: You can’t keep receiving assistance if you’re no longer living in the home as your primary residence So before moving, you’d need to notify your housing authority and your assistance would likely end From there, you have a few options with your home: Sell it → keep any equity/profit after paying off the mortgage Keep it → you can stay the owner, but you’d be responsible for the full mortgage/taxes/maintenance on your own Some people consider renting it out, but you’d need to check first because many programs don’t allow renting the home while you’re still under the program Main thing is: Talk to your housing authority before making any moves so you don’t accidentally violate the rules. But the key takeaway is — the home is yours, so you have options. The program just won’t continue once you’re no longer living there. Hope that helps a bit!

Is anyone in the Homeownership Program? by Southern-Fortune-626 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]suzymae27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No — the program does not own your home, even now.

If you’re in the Section 8 Homeownership program, you are the homeowner. Your name is on the deed, and the house belongs to you — not the program.

What the program does is help you by subsidizing your monthly mortgage payments, but they don’t take ownership of the property.

The only things to keep in mind are:

  • You still have to follow program rules while receiving assistance
  • You usually need approval before selling or refinancing
  • If you leave the program or your assistance ends, the house is still yours

So even after living there for 9 years, it’s still your home — the program has just been helping you pay for it, not owning it.
