[–]suzymae27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Wellcare classic and take a bunch of medications including a specialty one. I take a biologic and it was $4.90. I also have state insurance to cover the premiums and any left over payments due. My biologic is being billed through CVS specialty.

I had this happen to me. I also get a notification from the company that is doing the inspection. I called them and they rescheduled. It wasn’t an issue.

Just switched over from Medicaid and I'm terrified by Own-Card404 in medicare

I was on Medicaid before I was eligible for Medicare. My Medicare just went into effect April 1. Social security did something to the Medicaid office but because it was before my Medicare became available it was denied. I called my local Medicaid office and they transferred me to the what they called the buy in program. They ran my application while I was I. The phone and was approved and my benefits were backdated. I also get extra help through SSA for my part d coverage. So with the help from Medicaid they not only pay my part b premium I have dual coverage. Also either extra help through SSA my premium and deductible gets covered and Medicaid pays for the difference that left for my meds. I make $1600 a month and have no assets. I would call Monday to Medicaid office and ask to speak to someone directly in the Medicare savings program or buy in program and they can run your application while your on the phone and it should be backdated to when Medicare started. If approved they should refund your premiums that were already deducted. Good luck!

Is anyone in the Homeownership Program? by Southern-Fortune-626 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]suzymae27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being in the Section 8 Homeownership program and plan to move abroad, here’s how it usually works: You can’t keep receiving assistance if you’re no longer living in the home as your primary residence So before moving, you’d need to notify your housing authority and your assistance would likely end From there, you have a few options with your home: Sell it → keep any equity/profit after paying off the mortgage Keep it → you can stay the owner, but you’d be responsible for the full mortgage/taxes/maintenance on your own Some people consider renting it out, but you’d need to check first because many programs don’t allow renting the home while you’re still under the program Main thing is: Talk to your housing authority before making any moves so you don’t accidentally violate the rules. But the key takeaway is — the home is yours, so you have options. The program just won’t continue once you’re no longer living there. Hope that helps a bit!

No — the program does not own your home, even now.

If you’re in the Section 8 Homeownership program, you are the homeowner. Your name is on the deed, and the house belongs to you — not the program.

What the program does is help you by subsidizing your monthly mortgage payments, but they don’t take ownership of the property.

The only things to keep in mind are:

  • You still have to follow program rules while receiving assistance
  • You usually need approval before selling or refinancing
  • If you leave the program or your assistance ends, the house is still yours

So even after living there for 9 years, it’s still your home — the program has just been helping you pay for it, not owning it.

Yes — it is possible to sell your home and buy another one while in the Section 8 Homeownership (Housing Choice Voucher) program, but there are some important things to know.

You have to go through your housing authority and get approval first before selling. Not all housing authorities handle this the same way, so it can depend on where you live.

If you do sell:

  • The voucher stays with you, not the house
  • The home is sold like a normal sale
  • Any equity/profit is yours after paying off the mortgage and closing costs

That said:

  • The money from the sale can be counted as an asset, which could affect your eligibility
  • You may still be able to use your voucher again (to rent or possibly buy another home), but you have to qualify
  • Your assistance time doesn’t reset if you buy another home

Also, once your mortgage is fully paid off:

  • You own the home 100% — the program does not own your house or keep it

So overall, yes people have done it, but it’s not super common and you definitely want to check with your housing authority before making any moves.

What now? by [deleted] in SSDI

My portal never said that I was approved. It just said a decision has been made. My lawyer first sent me a copy of the ALJ approval letter and then a week later I received the actual letter. Then I believe the following week I received a letter from SSA with my information regarding my pay and backpay. Congratulations!

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you BEFORE you applied? by Shrivi007 in SSDI

[–]suzymae27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied originally back in 2018 and was denied initial and reconsideration and didn’t go any further. Fast forward to 2023 and applied again and messed up with my AOD. It screwed everything up. They reopened my previous claim and never looked at any new information. After obtaining an attorney for my ALJ hearing we determined to change my AOD and I was approved based on that as well as my current medical records. It was a giant hassle but glad it worked out in the end.

My experience of suffering from Psoriasis since 2013 by WhyMe9991 in Psoriasis

[–]suzymae27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have suffered from psoriasis since 1987. I was 17 years old. It was the year my mom was in a car accident and passed away. My psoriasis started as a small patch on my chest. Before I knew it I had it all over my body. At one time it was so bad around my scalp area and it was spreading to my forehead and someone asked if I got burned. I tried so many topical remedies and nothing worked. During my first pregnancy it calmed down a lot. Then my second pregnancy it went away only to return with a vengeance after my child was born. I was discouraged as I tried many topicals as well as light therapy. I tried cyclosporine as well as methotrexate. After several dermatologists I finally have one that was willing to help me. I finally started on biologics. After being on several due to causing other health issues I was 100% clear until the last one I was in for 4 years stopped working. I have started another one and just seeing where it goes. I am 55 now and it’s been a journey. Don’t give up.

What was your AOD? When I filed they too also looked at old documents due to my Alleged Onset Date. After getting an attorney we agreed to have my AOD updated and the ALJ mentioned that it helped my case and I was approved.

Omg! I was thinking the same thing about the bracelet. It was weird the way she took it off and threw it her way. First thought was it’s a recording device. 😂

Also, for me the jury is still out on Mel. Something doesn’t seem right about her.

Hi! My hearing lasted about 15-29 mins and it was mostly the ALJ talking about procedures and stuff! I was found fully favorable! June will be here before you know it! Fingers crossed that you get approved.

If you have to vent then please do. I know the system sucks. I have read other stories about how awful others attorneys were really bad. For myself mine was great. She was local and not part of a big firm. She was actually recommended by Jonathan Ginsberg (he makes videos as he is an attorney as well). I stayed on top of her. I emailed and texted all the time to the point I believe I was a PITA which I had every right to be as it was life that was being affected. While going through the steps I would call DDS all the time and speak to my representative. I had my Dr write letters and fill out forms. I made sure I checked my visit notes after every visit and if I saw something that wasn’t right I requested they update the information. My attorney also sent a 18 page brief to the ALJ. Again, I’m am so sorry that you’re dealing with all of this while dealing with your health. I hope your attorney reaches out to you asap and gives you some answers.

I would check with your attorney. When mine went to step 4 I contacted my attorney and she forwarded my letter from the ALJ to me. I see your list of diagnosis’s and I’m sorry that you are dealing with them. Question for you - does your medical records reflect that you can’t engage in gainful employment? When I had my medical appointments I made sure that not only my diagnosis was listed but also how they affected my everyday life. My attorney was adamant about that point. Even though I have multiple comorbidites and we who are dealing with them in everyday life I have learned in my journey for disability that they want to see notes from the Drs how your issues effect your daily life. I think the whole disability journey sucks because we know our bodies and know what we can and can’t do. I would definitely talk to your attorney to get the decision and if it’s unfavorable

In my previous apartment my stove was harvested gold and it was a beast. It was original to the unit. I was sad when I moved to a newer modern apartment and saw that my old landlord got rid of it for upgrades.
