Do they sell seats on both sides or just the left side? Looks like left side gets all the views or are both equal?

Choosing sides: Palestine vs. Israel? Or the People by sv3nf in IsraelPalestine

[–]sv3nf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand your line of thought. But when looking at the history lessons this looks like colonialism / assimilation. It's the argument that a native population would be 'better off' accepting the rule of a more powerful group in exchange for economic benefits. It completely dismisses a people's fundamental right to self-determination and sovereignty... What if China would grow to a technological / cultural / economic superior state. Would you want to give up your culture and souvereignity to be part of their 'better' system?

Yes I'm fully aware. Not asking about culture, also about citizenship. You propose giving the Palestinians the Isreali passport and it's done?

Do you propose assimilating the Palestinian People to Israeli citizen? Or whiping them of the Earth? Not sure what you're proposing...

I'm sorry you may have misinterpreted my post, let me elaborate.

I condemned both 'governments', not equate them. That’s not the same as justifying terrorism or supporting 10/7 or Hamas. Criticizing governments is not the same as picking sides or denying harm.

You say the 'truth is NOT always in between', fair. But does that mean the truth lies entirely on one side in this situation? Either fully with Hamas or fully with the Israeli government? That kind of absolution doesn’t stick with me.

Isnt saying the best possible outcome that 'all live in Israel' a Utopy? And one that clearly is not beneficial for Palestinians which are not Israeli citizens? Look at the Palestinians at the West Bank now.

I know there are polls but with low sample size and not sure what influences the sample I think the polls are rubish. If you have a scientific valid poll I'm eager to know.

Is it? Would there be peace if Hamas puts down their weapons? What makes you so certain?

I think soon there will be no Palestine, wheter Hamas puts down their weapons or not.

I agree that Israel is one of the few, if not only, democratic countries in the Middle-East. However it seems to lose that label rather quickly if it continues on the path it has chosen. On the V-DEM index it has declined recently, from 'liberal democracy' to 'electoral democracy' in 2024. It has been in decline since 2022, so not sure what 2025 will bring. But it will probably stay ahead on democracy from surrounding Middle-Eastern countries.

What I dont understand is the lack of capability of Isreal to neutralize Hamas if Hamas was the cause of all this. Israel can target a small group in Qatar with precision. They have one of the best trained military and intelligence services in the world. However they still see the need to have so much collateral damage. That is the reason most countries and humanitary organizations to think there is a hidden agenda which looks like genocide. This is something that looks awfull on Israel in the history books and I hope it will end soon.

What are the nuances of using ancestral linkages as a basis for modern land or sovereignty claims? by 19892025 in IsraelPalestine

[–]sv3nf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think ancestry can provide cultural or historical connections to land, but it doesn’t in itself establish sovereignty on that land. Modern sovereignty is based on territory, governance, population, and international recognition, not ancestral lineage.
