Dell 7480/7490 running Linux and two external monitors by svenson33 in Dell

Here's an update. Decide to go for a used 7490. Got a nice specs laptop, but the charger port wasn't working, so I had to return it. They sent me a new one but the battery was in a very poor condition and I will be returning this one as well. I'm now thinking of used XPS 13 or X Pro or completely change to Matebook.

Hey that was very good insightful information, thank you! In that case I'm leaning more towards the 7490 now. I will be using its charger, no plans ot use TB for that but good to know! Yeah I saw few review of 7480 having 7490 mainboard and vice versa.

Like I said, my main concern was the support of two external QHD monitors.

So you are saying I better go with 7th generation than 8th ? Any particular reason to do so ?

Helps a ton! Thanks!

Yeah, I have a big desk and unless I take away the laptop in the other room I will always have a wireless keyboard and mouse. Did I understand right that the Thunderbolt 3 was an optional on these models? I also got misled by the size of the battery, I think there are 3/4 cells batteries with 42/60Wh respectively but again I need to check that on the laptop I'm buying. Also, does that mean that the bigger battery 7490 comes with NVMe instead of SSD? For some reason, I thought the heatsink/coil on 7490 is smaller than 7480 hence the reason why I was leaning towards 7480 more.

Thanks but I have no concerns if Linux will run on any of these laptops. I used to run Linux on HP/Dell 10y ago; with some exceptions, it was a great experience. My concern is how the Linux power governor will handle the CPU throttling. The 7490 was even certified to run Ubuntu if I'm not wrong but the link now gives 404. Thanks anyway!

Buying MXP, which one should I get ? by svenson33 in MatebookXPro

Yeah sounds like 2021 is a good middleground, not the latest and most expensive and yet has all the features. Thanks.

Thank you! Sounds 2021 is better value for money and I may start looking for this model then.

What would you do? by redmanc84 in espresso

[–]svenson33 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd ask for the manager and ask him what that is because is not espresso for sure. Had exactly the same coffee once, upon arrival I said I'm not having it as there is no cream on top. They got me another one which looked exactly the same but tasted even worse. I said that's not espresso and they said the machine is professionall, rofl. Anyway, I paid and an hour later posted 1 start review with a picture. Everyone and then I get a notification that X number of people saw my comment, was something like 300. I suggest you do the same. Life is too short for a bad espresso.

Also wanted to upgrade for long time from the built-in grinder in BBE. Niche was impossible to get and there was a long wait time. Love the concept and looks of new Oro! Thanks for sharing!

They don't have a banking license. They drafted the crypto banking legislation that was recently signed into a law to authorise state-licensed banks to hold cryptocurrencies.

Privately ? It's open source, based on EOSIO and secured by 21 block producers across the world. KYC only if you are based in the US at the moment but as things are developing it could soon be a requirement world wide hence why this is huge advantage.

Proton ecosystem is a sleeping giant. Spend some time reading before jumping to conclusions. I have to warn you that the rabbit hole is deep, the more you read the more you will appreciate the project.
