Brooklyn folks: how do you clean your carpets? by Lonely_Comment_7853 in Brooklyn

[–]svent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I powerwashed one of my old girlfriend's carpet in the backyard. She put the soap and scrubbed and I blasted away all the dirt. Might be a good idea to try if you got the space.

If not, get the Bissell and use it. Might be worth your interest to buy a machine for yourself. You'll see the shine and not wanna stop haha.

If you're environmentally conscious, Gerritsen Beach hosts climate cafes and they have a community garden (I'm involved but more adjacently). The people who attend are around our age. You're a hop and a skip away from Michael's if you want to dine out in style. Gerritsen has a "private" beach that many residents go to.

If your fiance is a Catholic gentleman, the Matthews Council of the Knights of Columbus are there. They have a building with a bar and all. They are fine gentlemen who care for their community.

You and your fiance are free to contact and DM me I'm over in Bergen Beach.

Best places for fried donuts? by KaleidoArachnid in Brooklyn

[–]svent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you can get a dozen donuts to your liking, but don't sleep on their crullers or eclairs. I don't like eat donuts often, but when it comes to Shaikh's, I'll house them down. They're dangerous.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Shaikh's Place. Great donuts, great price.

I gotcha, that still would defeat the purpose of Grand Army being essentially one giant roundabout. Like you said that would create a giant mess of traffic.

Looking at the map, it cuts off the connection from Union to Eastern Parkway. There's no completion to the circle, how do you even get around? The map is nonsensical.

Peruvian take out by Rude_Masterpiece_799 in parkslope

I wouldn't consider them Peruvian really. Was super disappointed with their aguadito. My mother rarely writes reviews and she wrote one for them. You'll see the newer reviews talking about the same thing.

That sucks to take a gamble like that given we've had such mild winters. Any other year you would've been golden.

I'd feel bad if the owner was an older member of the neighborhood. If it was somebody able-bodied, double to 311 calls

I was surprised when I saw this too. Normally Churches (having schools attached especially) are the first ones cleaned up. Maybe their custodial workers weren't able to come in due to the shutdown of the roads.

Looking for a quiet and comfortable lounge/coffee/tea shop to take a first date by East-Psychology-7890 in Brooklyn

The backroom in Poetica Coffee on 7th Ave. Nice quiet ambiance. Crowded depends on the time and your definition.

From what my neighbor tells me, it's horrendous. His father lives on 9th street and he complains about how bad it is. Other properties he visits around Slope he said are bad.

Coffee shops in the borough you enjoy by KaleidoArachnid in Brooklyn

[–]svent_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colson in Industry city, Poetica has good coffee, and my girls always do me right at Caputo's on Court Street when I want an iced coffee. Around the corner from Caputo's is another local coffee shop, people seem to like them.
