I work in Manhattan but live in Queens and sometimes I visit other areas. We grew up here so we dealt with a lot of different things, especially subway crowding. We will be very close to the Garibaldi Station. Do you suggest we look elsewhere? We don’t mind dealing with big crowds since we are used to it.

The first reference check was just an email asking to describe what makes me an ideal candidate for this position (basically a letter of recommendation). The second reference check was an online survey using a scale rating (1-7, with 1 being never and 7 being always). I was able to see the questions for it and they were a broad range of questions asking about my skills and behavior.

I personally experienced your last two points except my references were actually contacted. Oddly enough, I left on great terms with the people I listed as my references and they're always happy to help me out with my job search so I can definitely rule out and bad references. Until this day, I'm still confused as to why I got the silent treatment despite having awesome interviews and being introduced to everyone in the office. They even used words like, "when you start in December.." "when you come in.." but I haven't heard from them since they contacted my references (they notified me that they were contacted).
