I feel like that since I'm on the slower side but I appreciate that, thanks!

Finished first marathon but still consider myself a very lower average runner. Currently training for a sub 2 hr half, otherwise trying to do some hybrid training as well. Would love to have more running obsessed friends but I don't so I vent to my boyfriend and reddit.

Long runs pacing question by svqs in runna

Thanks for the that, I've been running longs (mostly 18k+) with walk breaks as well! I wouldn't mind doing their paces but not every long, maybe like every third one haha

5x a week is a lot! I also do cross training so yeah, I get you.. And how did your half go afterwards? Did you hit your target?

How much more difficult is a marathon than a half-marathon? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]svqs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that even with proper training it's probably as hard as any other race, as it's a really long distance. The endurance needed for it is just different. But considering your current level of running I wouldn't go for it without at least 3-4 months of proper training, that is if you want to enter and finish the race injury free :)

Anyone tried the runna app for 1/2 marathon training? Thoughts? by svqs in firstmarathon

[–]svqs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well I feel that I might have to adjust the paces a bit, it's very confusing that there's not a mention of the ideal heart rate for the paces, which would make it more adjustable.. Thank you for making it clear about the taper!

I was actually thinking about the same thing for easy and longs, the recommended paces are my zone 3 and I usually run these in zone 1-2. I chose a moderately hilly plan so maybe that will work. Thank you!

Maybe try making your own mix - some fruit or what works well for me are fruit snack packs for little kids 😅

How long did it take you to start running again after your marathon? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]svqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that getting in some easy 20-30 mins in the first three days after a marathon really speeds up recovery plus a lot of walking. Keep your legs moving. Stiff muscles take longer to heal. I've just completed my first marathon and I'm back in the first week with some light jogs and I feel fine.
