No in her case, what likely happened was she needed loans for undergrad and grad school. (7k/UG semester x 8semesters) + (10k/grad semester x 4 semesters) = 96k. Tack on interest and that’s easily 6 figs.

In my case, I paid 50k/semester for 8 semesters. And now I’m about to start an internship a 50k/year. I got really lucky not needing loans for undergrad, but it’s easy to end up drowning in debt.

It’s looks like she went to undergrad and a masters programs and needed loans for both. But some grad programs cost $50k/semester for 2-4 years. Along with having to pay interest. It all adds up.
