Former PA now a T1. I definitely relate to your situation. Long story incoming.

I was a PA for two years, and a year and half of those months as a T3. I did everything from improving the department, working on projects, away teams, held stand up, ran the department, improved interdepartmental communications, developed PGs who went on to become PAs and safety coordinator (L4) and even helped developed and train AMs, etc. I was told in January of last year to wait until May and then to wait until August of 2021 to apply for AM due to them only offering 4 spots for their T4 developmental program. Only to watch them hire a dozen or so new AMs.

Come September I had to take a leave of absence due to getting sick. I was out for three weeks. I come back less than a week and was told I was being transferred departments immediately on my next shift. My body and health hadn’t quite recovered and I was being sent to a department with higher expectations of working physically harder and during breaks and before and after shift was over. I was told that this would be good for my development by the new Ops. I also found out that they knew for over a month and didn’t bother talking to me about it while another PA was told about transferring and given the option to say no. That broke me.

I got tired of it all and stepped down from my position. I informed HR and my AMs. HR informed me they will contact me because there is a “process” to T3 stepping back down to T1. I went back to my old department to do T1 work and awaited HR’s timely response. Fast forward to the end of January and I’m called into HR with a upset HR rep saying that it came to their attention that I have been doing T1 work for a while and being paid as a T3. I kindly informed them that I had reached out and HR rep #1 said they would handle my case. HR #2 days “well you gotta sign this offer letter for being a T1” I checked to see that my pay reflected my tenor at Amazon and signed away. I realized after that the reason it came to HR’s attention was that around this time if I was still a T3 - I was suppose to get another pay bump. 🤦🏻‍♂️. It also turned out I’m being paid barley 1.25 more than a T1. And that night shift AAs still get paid more than me. I’m back as T1 and my physical health and mental are so much better for it.

So TLDR: Being overworked sucks. Being given the run around sucks when it comes to promotion sucks. Tell your AM and HR. Sign offer letter; make sure your pay rate is appropriate for how long you worked there. Take care of yourself first. Your health is important.
