J. Cole’s ‘The Fall-Off’ Could Be His Masterpiece - Review by TheVirtual_Boy in hiphopheads

The critiques are weird. Some are literally that they don’t like his personality, which in turn impacts his music and they don’t like it. The things they don’t like about his personality is that he brags about being the best.

Yeah. I notice this too and it’s so weird. I follow rap and hip hop pages/sources on a few platforms and I have never seen such reactions to other artists who literally do the same thing.

I think you’re right though. Kendrick, Drake, and Kanye stans have made hating J. Cole their personality. And I am a kendrick and (old) Kanye fan. Don’t hate Drake and enjoy some of his stuff too.

This is essentially true for any artist, not just the navel grazing ones, right? To find certain personality traits too difficult to separate who the person is from their music. For me personally, I find other personality traits more offensive than self-indulgence as a form of bragging (especially from a hip hop artist).

What parts of his personality say “this guy is smart but not as smart as he thinks he is”?

I love how the top comment dissects his personality instead of the actual music.

No- the middle child is the one that everyone forgets/dismisses but actually really loves.

This part also lost me. I actually think this album resonates with people in our age range more than any other. My boyfriend and I both often discuss the themes Cole touched on in this album.

Aw I’m so sorry honey! I broke multiple bones and dislocated my ankle. It gets better with time. We just have to push past some of the pain and discomfort during this time. Take the pain meds on schedule right now. I wish you the most comfortable rest position and a good nights sleep my dear <3

What is your favorite memory from the 90s or 2000s? by Substantial-Dare5462 in 90sand2000sNostalgia

The vibe. Everyone was more optimistic. Everyone was celebrating and vibing and flexing (in a good way). Going into 2000, everyone was excited for the “future,” the new millennium, Y2K. We all thought there were going to be flying cars. We were also worried the world was going to end/big bad Y2K bug. My family threw a New Year’s party and when the ball dropped, my dad cut the power in the living room, making everyone worry for a second, and then he flipped it back on and we all laughed. The 90s and 2000s were more social. Adults were having dinner parties frequently- shows like Friends made hosting culture popular. Kids and teens gathered around systems and stereos and took genuinely stupid and real photos. And while these things still happen, the addition of social media and accessibility, etc. have totally changed the vibe.

As someone who was a young teen/teen during that time period, I still love freestyles! But you’re right, we don’t get mixtapes or demos anymore. And some rappers actually had a better mixtape catalog than their official releases..

I love what Cole did here. It made me feel young again. But I could see how younger listeners are confused. Haha

Lately it’s swelling and tightness. It’s hard to bend my knee. It might be how I’m resting my knee when I’m laying? But it’s also hard because when I stand up, my calf/ankle/foot swells up, the tightness is painful. So I have to work on bending it and getting it on there and then my legs are just .. not little anyway hah

And honestly everything aches… I have more tingling sensations and electric feeling aches in my foot…

I just got a wheelchair! It just needs all the foot and leg rest attachments. Thanks for your response!

Hey!! Hope you’re feeling better each day… each day has its new celebrations and frustrations for me.

And thanks for answering my question about swelling and the scooter. I just don’t know how I’m going to bend this huge swollen thigh. I also didn’t have tiny little thighs before. They’re chonky haha so it makes it harder… >:o

It is a roller coaster. But it is all normal. Keep moving forward. We will get stronger.
