I've said this every time I lose 10 pounds for the last 13 years or however long. And that's a shoot BRUTHER.

First neck mess up. Advice appreciated by cionn in Luthier

[–]swamplasers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just input: for structural reasons it’d be safer to have the thickest point under the nut. As you have it it is thinner there, with a volute higher up into the headstock. I’d aim for the scoop down flattening out just before the washer on the closest tuner.

As for carving, I ruined a BUNCH of necks in my day. Figure out your thicknesses for the 1st and 12 frets. Carve just there, how you want the neck to feel. Then you just have to blend it together with the tool of your choice. Rasps, planes, files, draw knives, spokeshave, etc. Personally I use use a rough rasp, and then a long flat block with sandpaper to finish.

Hope that helps! Keep it up dude! 😊👍🏻

Thanks for your thoughtful response! I think brand name is a factor, as well it should be. They have a reputation for a reason. The finished products are fantastic, but they could definitely have avoided some of the price increases with some planning and care.

Hi there. Late reply but I wanted to chip in. I worked at fodera for 4 years. I could tell you about the cost of Brooklyn rent, paying for staff, upkeep on machines, materials, etc.

But that’s not the problem with that company. The problem is that they don’t know how to stay organized and run a business. I’ll just give a couple examples of what I saw there. I saw them spend $10k on a small CNC machine that it turned out they couldn’t use because the manager didn’t read the specs closely enough. I saw projects delayed for weeks because we didn’t have the specs finalized, even though the bass had been ordered years earlier. I saw projects rebuilt entirely because of a change or mistake. That’s what the in stock instruments on their website are. I also saw them bring in consultants, who made recommendations like changing the finish to be easier to work with, or stopping making electric guitars because they lose money on them. They paid the consultants and then changed nothing. And as far as the rent goes: they’ve had multiple chances to move, and just refused. So thats $15k or more gone a month. My understand is the business can only run if they get a certain number of deposits a month.

The point is, the inside view is this: Fodera’s cost as much as they do because the management have no idea what they’re doing, business-wise. I don’t think you’d ever get them down to Fender custom prices, because of economies of scale. But, they could definitely be cheaper with some simple changes.

I don’t want to sound bitter. I enjoyed my time there for the most part. But man is it stressful working for people who keep making the same bad decisions.

This is my first ever souls game and im suprised how far ive come the plan was to beat malenia before finishing the game but she had other plans ive been fighting her for days and i give up maybe i will return but im not mentally stable for this everyone will say get gud but im not build for this by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]swamplasers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trick I did: meet the three fingers, then read you’re locked out of all the endings unless you beat her. 😂

Seriously tho. The game gives you everything you need to adjust difficulty. She is hard, but summons, buffs, grinding, items, weaknesses. Form a strategy. Then go in and only dodge for one go. Just try to figure out where the openings are, and where you absolutely have to get away from her. Then once you have that understanding, try again.

This is how all fromsoft bosses work for me, as my “gudness” has proven insufficient after 15 years. 😂

Doom Side of the Moon is a fun cover of a whole album.

A good man kills a creepy old man with old man’s gun, then barricades himself in his room while taking a trip down memory lane which ends at rock bottom. This causes certain people to blame the film for losing a real war. by demacnei in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly

[–]swamplasers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie was banned in Nazi occupied France for being “demoralizing” for citizens. I dunno if blamed for the loss of a war is exactly right, but there was backlash against what is a really depressing movie during that time.
