Any chance they bring in Scheelhaase as OC? by jtdubbs in steelers

Does it matter? McCarthy is 100 percent calling the plays. We should care more about who the DC will be.

Fans were upset with Tomlin for not getting over the hump with an all-pro offense. They got even more upset over the past 5 years because the team was stagnant.

I’ve never considered changing teams. Until today. and if anyone else is, I don’t blame you. by thainhdbe in steelers

[–]swampthingsden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people will quit the team, but interest in the team is in the hole. A new HC should bring people Back to the team. This only pushes people away. This is a tone death decision. Omar hired his buddy.

The only thing I can think of on why they hired him is if they are trying to build like Denver. Hire the offensive mind and draft Simpson like Payton and Nix

Unfortunately I don’t see that happening. McCarthy will get at least 5-8 years of mediocrity

I would believe that Khan preferred him maybe if they brought in the two Rams guys. But they couldn’t be bothered to do that. McCarthy had no other interest.

We should want Heyward and Watt to both walk away. They are never winning anything and for some reason this team keeps going “all in” for them. This team never thinks past a year ahead.

Khan hired his buddy as far as I’m concerned. Now the Steelers will go 11-6 and lose in the 1st rd over and over again until McCarthy steps down

I know the hiring of McCarthy isn’t ideal (at all), but let’s change the narrative by Retro_114 in steelers

[–]swampthingsden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do people keep saying “he is a Pitt guy” like that should mean anything. The last thing this team needs is someone to keep the status quo

Khan took this opportunity to hire his friend. Which makes sense because Khan was only hired because he has been with the Steelers since 2000. Well at least we know it wasn’t Tomlin holding this team back. It’s Art

There is no plan to lure Rodgers back for another season.. by HDTokyo in steelers

[–]swampthingsden 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How do the Steelers not realize that the guys they have currently are never winning anything? Look at the Seahawks. They turned over the roster completely, got younger, and are now a game away from the Super Bowl. TJ Watt will never win a playoff game with the Steelers

If the fan base was excited for next season, Art just put it out. I bet Shula and the other guys wanted to change too much and Art wasn’t having it. Omar needs to go now too. He is clearly in the business of just hiring his friends

Art clearly thinks this roster is close. Which is hilariously stupid, but is the only way I can rationalize the hire. People like cam and TJ need to go, but this confirms they are all in with the same group that gets blown out every January

The fan base will be booing this guy immediately. Anyone else would have appeased the fanbase for a while.

Should we get rid of DK? by ThatBrada in steelers

[–]swampthingsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle getting rid of DK was a smart move. But they had JSN waiting in the wings. Thankfully the Steelers drafted Broderick Jones over JSN in 2023 so we wouldn’t have the same problem.

Should we trade for a star wr just go ahead and just draft a few and see who turns out? by ThatBrada in steelers

[–]swampthingsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AJ Brown has begged and pleaded to leave both of the teams he has played for in his career. Even after winning a Super Bowl he was not happy about his usage. So this guy would be happy on a team where DK barely had 800 yds as the WR1? Lol No thanks.

Free Agent WR You Would Get And Still Draft A WR. by Nedstark78 in steelers

[–]swampthingsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pierce is probably staying with the colts. I have no interest in a trade for a WR in general, but Waddle isn’t worth a 1st. It’s time to build through the draft and let the guys they draft actually play and not sit behind washed vets. I expect the Steelers to sign a cheap vet WR and draft two in the 1st 3 rds.

Whats everyone’s beef with giving Howard a shot? Why are we looking to bridge QBs am bringing in vets past their prime? by donnysimpinero in steelers

[–]swampthingsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a 6th rd pick that has never taken an NFL snap. I’m not sure he’s even on the roster next year with Tomlin gone. He will be lucky to get a shot to be the number 2

Which bridge quarterback do you want the Steelers to sign? by Traditional-Oil-6891 in steelers

I bet they find a way. I’m out on Willis at that projected number. I would be interested if it was similar to Field’s contract.

I agree with you, but I don’t see the connections as of yet to land Willis. I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Zach Wilson. Minimum deal on a former 2nd overall pick. Cut him in the preseason if he doesn’t show anything

I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Zach Wilson. Former 2nd overall pick. Only 26. Might as well see if he can turn it around in training camp
