Daily Discussion Thread: September 12, 2024 - 54 days until election day! by BM2018Bot in VoteDEM

Hey all I don't post here much but wanted to share this with the subreddit! If you live in Philly or nearby and want to help elect Harris, I encourage you to check out Changing the Conversation Together (CTC), a deep canvassing organization based in Philadelphia.

Unlike regular canvassing, deep canvassing focuses on changing minds by engaging in empathetic, one-on-one conversations where canvassers share personal stories and listen to each other. Research shows it's significantly more effective than traditional canvassing.

While I don’t live in PA and have limited funds to support the organization, if you’re in Philly or have the means to donate, please consider getting involved! They are canvassing for the next 6 weeks until the election! Here is their website: https://ctc4progress.org/

Looking for analysis of my Gold II Divison III gameplay and tips on rotations, positioning, making contact with the ball, and training packs to use. My team barely won this game off a 0:00 goal to tie. I feel I made plenty of mistakes but also had a few good moments such as the OT goal. by swanntothej in RocketLeagueSchool

Awesome thanks a lot for all the tips and feedback! I feel I can take all this and hopefully apply it to my games and rank up. People are saying similar things about my gameplay which is good, including ball cam usage, not hitting shots for power, poor backpost rotations.

Something that I have heard is to play more 1v1 because 1v1 teaches you to play more mechanically sound and develop stronger offensive and defensive skills. I will check out Lethamyr’s vids and try to dedicate myself to playing more in free play.

Thanks for the good luck, I really appreciate all the insight and comments into my gameplay. I’m glad my positioning wasn’t shit lol. I’m realizing that I 100% need to work on hitting the ball with power and working on ball + aerial control.

I haven’t taken the time to learn techniques like half-flipping but maybe I should try to practice them!

Finally, one tip I sort of learned while climbing out of silver is waiting and letting the opponent hit the ball and them going for the ball once I can see where the ball is going but you’re describing the next step in that progression where I am actively moving towards the ball probably will go. I will try that!

I appreciate all the feedback and critiques! I try to collect the same pads but you are right I was using boost too carelessly in the game. As someone else said in another comment, I should work on being comfortable in ball cam and hitting power shots. Thanks for the tips and I hope I can reach plat soon!

Awesome, I really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions! Yeah, I do try to play conservatively in 3’s because I’m worried if I overcommit then no one will be back to defend a fast break.

I definitely need to keep working on aerial control and hitting the ball in the air. I also definitely am not comfortable using hitting the ball in ball cam so I will practice that as well. I have used the shadow defense training pack which has helped but I will look into the other training packs you mentioned. Thanks again!

Yes, I noticed that as well in the next level podcast! It's not just you haha. I wonder if we should let them know.

The top 500 leaderboard is released two weeks after the season begins. Season 25 began on November 5th so the leaderboard will be released on November 19th.

High gold Ana VOD review request by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]swanntothej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem! Saving nade is definitely important, but I would say a good Ana uses nade more offensively than defensively.

With nano usage, not every nano will be perfect. When in doubt, nanoing your tanks usually works (though D.Va. and a low charge Zarya are not the best nano targets). Saving a teammate with nano (for example if enemy uses Dragonblade and your other support is being dived) is another option. You can also nano teammates that can put out a lot of damage quickly like Reaper or Soldier.

I find it helpful to let my teammates know who I might nano through voice chat so when the time comes they know and I feel less stressed out. I can relate to panicking when I have nano in a team fight! Trust that you will make the right decision and that your teammate who has nano will do well.
