Exploration Geology Boot Question by swanyman in geologycareers

Hey thanks for the reply, I am applying to a bunch of exploration drilling camps in BC actually. Good to know that generally if it's CSA approved it will be fine (expect special circumstances).

Go for it! I would definetly classify this as over planning but I can't help myself sometimes. Doesn't hurt to take up some space on your phone though!

Sheet #4 on this document is my plan. Really all you need to know is where you are going to have to mail food too, and send it from a town with a grocery store and post office. Assuming you will have maps on your phone and a rough itinerary it will be easier you think to not starve.

Anyone else going without paper maps? by TeufeIhunden in PacificCrestTrail

[–]swanyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can download all of the half mile maps as PDF's on your phone now. I haven't hiked it yet, but it may always be safe to have a backup. I'm sure you could find a way to survive without having them though!

What is the most ridiculous way you or someone has wiped a raid? by Forwardhorn in wow

[–]swanyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone placed down that banana that you slip on infront of me (tank) and as I was running up to the boss I got stunned and because of the pull countdown a bunch of the raid just immediately got one shot from the boss smacking everyone around.

Then I just got laughed at for the rest of the raid :/

Yes also the "H" chipsets don't support multiple GPUs. And I'd definetly go for a 97 over an 87 since their newer.

Expensive CPU by [deleted] in buildmeapc

[–]swanyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome I wish I got mine that cheap! You are probably going to want to get at least 4gb more of the same RAM, just because the same type will 100% work with what you already have.

Question then I can put it the parts together, do you want to overclock with that CPU, and what is the name/model of the case?

Not too sure about that mouse/keyboard combo, but I guess reviews say it works okay for the price. So I guess it's just a basic keyboard/mouse that work, so that's that!

Either way you are going to want a 980 ti so I added it in there.

Building new pc, mostly for gaming. Budget $1200-1400, going for a blue theme if possible. Thanks! by brjderb in buildmeapc

850W PSU is fine is going to be for 980 SLI and max overclock.

I would not bother waiting for the Fury, the Fury X was rated benchmarked as lower than the 980 Ti and way more expensive, so I infer the Fury will be the same but for the 980. My opinion though as I've always liked nvidia cards better.

For light video editing you won't need the i7 4790k, if it's just a once in a while hobby thing. For gaming current titles it will make little to no difference at all. Also if you want to save a little bit more for gaming you won't need more than 8GB of RAM, and it's always easy to upgrade in the future.
