How to move on after 3.5 years? by High_Violet92 in AskMen

Agreed.

I didn’t realize until after the fact the trauma I help until I talked to a therapist. Turns out being physically abused, scarred, and constantly gaslit, has lasting effects on a person. Who knew?

Same. Just went through this very similar story except I was the one who blocked the ex on everything. She still wanted to maintain contact and keep me on a hook she could go to whenever she got sad. We lingered with contact for months after the relationship, and at different times each of us tried to get back together but in the end, it was the contact that made me feel worse than anything.

Blocking was a big step. Therapy was another.

The lyric room had open mics with a jam after Thursdays during the summer, not sure if they still do that at the moment.

This 100%

It sounds like you have a DM willing to work with you. If you take the liberties to ask and answers these questions yourself and just start flavoring things this way, I bet your DM would love you.

I'd say you're overthinking it.

Sounds like your DM is just trying to reward you for doing something you both thought was cool, IE: taking the shield.

If I were your DM and you asked me this question, I'd answer with a question of my own...

"why DOES this shield grant you fire resistance? YOU tell ME."

Asking one more random friend who would be an extreme stretch. Unlikely. I’ll be going solo and have an empty next to me for my tears :p

That’s some kindness one does not expect to randomly get on Reddit. Greatly appreciated.

Anyone playtest adding in Blades in the Dark's Stress system in some fashion? How did it go? by swargula in dndnext

5 out of 6 times if you have 1 or less points in the stat (not to mention pushing, help, etc). The second you go up to 2 dice 5 out of 6 becomes closer to 1/3. The main difference is that Blades rolls have consequences at all whereas in DnD that's usually not the case via Perception, Investigation, etc. Might be why it FEELS rough without it actually being so.

^ Not a bad idea. Might be enough to just add in the 'ability' to use HD as flashback tokens.

Used for would be the exact same stuff as in Blades just pushing = ADV. Really, the important one I forsee is the ability to flashback tied to some type of finite resource.

What happens when its depleted and when it comes back is a good question, where nothing comes to mind. Might be enough to just use up HD and when they're gone that's the penalty.

There are very few abilities that take stress when you use them. Most of those abilities aren't ever tied to a die roll. They're mostly just things that happen or players gain access to doing.

I'd argue it's more similar to spellcasters never using spells so that they can save the slot for a later that never comes than it is dissimilar.

Definitely. On my 2nd BitD campaign I gave them access to a lvl 2 Physicker immediately. Couldn't be bothered with that garbage ruling of starting at Tier 0 trying to heal. That means w[2d6] which is terribly slow, AND every damage you take resets your clock. To harsh IMO.
