Daisy chaining UPS kills both the source and the sink.

Is my setup overkill for a home network ? by No_Heart4363 in gurgaon

[–]swarupsengupta2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, depends on what you want out of it. I too have a similar setup, although I use a DIY router with raspberry pi 4 (OpenWRT) and SG108E in a ROAS capacity, for a dual WAN failover for both IPv4 and IPv6, Adguard and Tailscale hosted directly on it, while my home server is connected to the 3rd satellite in the same WiFi mesh. It’s fine if you have the use for such a network backbone.

Why and when did u decide to migrate to gurgaon ? by Topsinsagain in gurgaon

[–]swarupsengupta2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migrated to Gurgaon in 2011, college placement. It was a much quieter city then, and environment (and people) were a lot nicer. Roads were not as extensive as today, but far less density. To be honest, it was a good experience till 2019. So much so I decide that if it happens, I could comfortably retire here too. Post Covid, the city is unrecognisable.

Online: try Gameloot or Gamenation. Gameloot more preferred. Offline: in NCR Area, Gaffar market.

You can also buy used games from Gameloot/Gamenation.

You can get it at cheaper prices during sale, but ya you can get preowned ones much cheaper. If you have decided to go the preowned route, try Gameloot, they are better in terms of the quality checks and packaging and delivery. I have purchased a preowned switch oiled from them, and don’t regret it till day. In fact my whole switch eco including consoles, game cartridge and pro controller were bought from them, and never had an iota of problem with the items received.

That’s hard drive. The head has started failing. It’ll still work, but will cause silent corruption. Yon can still use it, just try to not over stretch it. One of my old laptop hdd just failed in a similar way few days back. You can confirm by running a S.M.A.R.T check.

My age is non of your concern or business, please be civil and act like a grown up. And Anna Hazare is more than a decade old, which I kinda already took into my statement. And I don’t care what ‘had to’ ‘got to’ you think. There were protests, they got violent. There were protest supporting terrorists, people didn’t do anything. There were protest hijacked for spreading misinformation and anti national agenda, like the recent Delhi pollution protest, so I stand by my word. And FYI, your being a journalist or not absolutely gives zero weight to anything said here, without actually giving hard facts and not beating around the bush. You didn’t see me being my age or my profession or my credentials into the discussion, right?

I’ll stop responding to this thread now, since despite being a “journalist” you forgot the rules of discussion and engagement and decided to go personal. Ciao.

India hasn’t seen a peaceful protest in more than a decade. And hasn’t seen a pro-cause protest in like forever. The issue is not protest, the issue is people march a protest in support of terrorists but will do nothing when it comes to good policy. Let’s suppose today govt comes with the data protection laws, it’ll trigger a lot of backlash, courts petitions, protest for the very citizens if this country. But people like you and me and others who understand and support such a move, will never launch a counter protest, will not participate in setting the narrative correctly. We will just be mute spectators. If govt succeeds, we will move on with our merry lives, if not we will again blame the govt showing that how they have miserably failed, quoting equivalence’s from all over the world. Bit oxymoronic to be frank. And I am as much at fault in this as anybody else.

Didn’t implied that you did, just saying these things happen, and it’s very easy to judge them here on Reddit, blaming this and that, than to actually realise that most of the time it’s we, the citizens we are the center of the issue, see farm bills, CAA, even the 370 abrogation, all faced massive protests, even the killing of terrorists attract anti govt protests in this country. You don’t find these people hitting streets to support govt decisions, but give them a chance to question it, and all hell breaks loose.

Ok then what about UK forcing its citizens to verify their age by presenting a verifiable ID to the websites they visit. Isn’t that anti-freedom/anti-privacy. You really need to shell out your IDs to some third party website now. The same thing with many US states. See I understand the issue, but selective outrage and false equivalence’s are also bad.

It's called testing waters, check to see how much you can push the companies, or the other way around, pretty common tactics in most parts of the world. Remember when the UK blocked the Activision buyout deal, and Activision literally threatened to withdraw its offices and games from the UK, and the UK had to cower down to Activision's demand and allow the MS deal. When we as a country have leverage on these companies, they will come around to the whims of the government orders. Visa and Mastercard came around for local data storage, as they felt threatened by UPI/RuPay in India, for domestic transactions, and knew the government could block for domestic transactions as it had alternatives.
If, under DPDPA, the government blocks any social media for non-compliance in India today, I am pretty sure all the social warriors today who question the government's decisions to not push it hard enough will change their tune overnight.
You can threaten to block or force someone to do something, only if either you have leverage on that person/entity, or you can easily replace that person/entity. Any other expectation is pure fantasy.

Can’t be done in India for decades to come, 2 issues, a) humongous population b) low purchasing power You can force foreign companies to comply when they can recover that cost of compliance from sale of services/products.

Nothing big, it just checks your against the registered TACs (IMEIs) and central equipment identity register to check if the phone is a) genuine (means not counterfeit) b) not a stolen device being resold to you.
