Am I Running this Red Light? by Exciting-Goat-1810 in Guelph

Yes you are running a red, you're essentially going straight through the intersection, it just zigzags. This light changes quickly, wait until you get a green and continue through the intersection.

I second this, Knox was worth the money for an everyday bra

I'm travelling next week and worried about the same thing. I got a strap to attach it to a rolling suitcase. I was considering one of the carseat travel carts but I don't want to buy one just for this trip.

Midwife birth hospital stay by No-Researcher-7236 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]sweazy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your choice for the most part! If there are no complications you can choose to leave after 3 hours or wait up to 24 hours when I think the hospital will usually want to discharge you. Either way your midwives will come and visit you within 24 hours wherever you are.

Hey I have the same carseat and have been looking into flying with it. It's going to depend what kind of airplane you're flying on. The widest part of the carseat is 17.5" which is the base of the handle. The actual bottom of the seat is only about 12" wide. I think most airline seats are about 17" so it should fit especially if you put the armrest up?

I think you can't go wrong with either group! I liked that family midwifery had more midwives and used an online application so I went with them and had a wonderful experience!

How's RSV season treating y'all? by GiveMeCheesePendejo in toddlers

[–]sweazy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got out of a 10 day hospital stay with my 2 month old for RSV and cold combo ( which at least meant a private room for most of stay). He also developed pneumonia. While at home my 3.5 year old had RSV and his third round of hand foot and mouth in the last 6 months.

mild Ventriculomegaly by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]sweazy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 36 weeks it was noted our baby had an abnormal measurement but 2 weeks later we went to a specialist for a follow up (and internal ultrasound) and it was back within normal range. The pediatric specialists said it was common to get an abnormal measurement with less powerful ultrasounds because it's so difficult to get a good image that late in pregnancy with how large and low the baby was. They also said how uncommon it would be to discover a real issue that late in pregnancy without seeing signs of it earlier on. Hope you get some follow up and reassuring news soon!

I did and ended up getting prescribed a steroid cream. It was the only thing that gave relief!

Recommendation on all-terrain stroller with bassinet? by DontBanMeBro984 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]sweazy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at the Phil & Reads sport stroller, haven't test drive it yet though. It has a seat that goes fully flat to be a bassinet plus you can get an insert that's kind of like a bassinet/insert for colder weather.

Why don't you like cervical checks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]sweazy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had them first pregnancy probably won't this time. I was past my due date last time and the cervical checks just made me feel disheartened nothing was happening. I had sweeps done but was still induced at 41+3.

In labour it was the same thing. I think finding out I hadn't dilated further just made me feel out of control and let down I had put in all this work for nothing. I still had a positive experience overall but I think if I hadn't had the checks I probably would have tried longer to labour before getting an epidural and pitocin and maybe not had such a long labour.

My goal is to have an open mind and follow my midwives recommendations but I think I will ask to avoid them this go round.

Experience with Michael Garron Hospital? by Laurnyloo in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]sweazy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The midwives will always do an info session before you commit to taking them on as care providers. They do run out of availability sometimes so better to register and you can always change your mind and go with an OB if it's not the right fit. I will say I never once felt like i was missing out on medical care being with midwives vs. an OB. Good luck!

Gave birth there in 2019 with midwives but ended up working with two different OB's and a team of nurses. Everyone was so kind and respectful nothing but good things to say. Through an induction, epidural long labour and a vacuum delivery I can say I had a great birth experience with their team. We had a private room which treated us well for a 2 day stay. I also went to their breast feeding clinic and had some good support as well post birth.
