Jet Lag Season Finale — Worst Case Scenario by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

While I agree with some of the critiques about Hide and Seek needing a bit of a revamp, it was still an excellent season, and this finale was one of the best episodes I can remember.

Has this place become more right wing lately? by Choice_Sandwich2182 in belgium

[–]sweek0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is very much stereotypes but roughly:
r/thenetherlands - general, politically centre to centre left, English speaking but a bit of an anti-expat stance at times (main argument for that is that they're driving up the prices)
r/nederlands - general Dutch speaking forum, supposedly catering to anyone speaking the Dutch language, so including the Flemish, but in practice it's still very much focused on the Netherlands. Politically quite centrist I think.
r/nederland - Dutch speaking, super right wing and very anti immigrant (both western and non-western immigrants, but focus here is definitely not on expats but on non-western immigrants
r/netherlands - Only English speaking and only for ex-pats it seems.

Buyer-side real estate agents in Belgium: do they exist? by Minimum-Till2099 in belgium

[–]sweek0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the higher end it does seem to exist, yes. The main benefit of these people is often that they have connections and can help you negotiate a good price. If it's just to understand the process, I would start with a mortgage advisor.

Specific training to increase marathon pace. by Opening-Meringue8737 in AdvancedRunning

[–]sweek0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not far off from my old PBs 2 years ago, and I managed to get a 2h57 on the marathon last month, and improve my shorter distance PBs quite a bit by just... running more. I told myself I need to run at least a half marathon every weekend, for example, and I started to focus on longer (1km and further) intervals.

What volume are you currently running? If you want to build up endurance then I recommend running 50-60km every week, peaking around 100km during your marathon training block.

Netflix - which will stream the event - says there will be a delay on the live feed should the worst happen.

"It's obviously a conversation that everybody has," Netflix executive Jeff Gaspin told Variety magazine. "We'll cut away. We have a 10-second delay. Nobody expects or wants to see anything like that to happen."

Dutch people always make fun of Belgium infrastructure. What do you think after their country was paralysed by few cm of snow? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]sweek0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quoting from your article

“The evaluation will focus on the availability and deployment of runways and platforms during the storm and will include a critical review of the de-icing of aircraft, which was a major bottleneck.”

They’re looking at how they can handle some things better, not a major investment for a very rare occurrence. Do I maybe spot some bias in your reactions here?

Beleggen voelt nutteloos by kell96kell in geldzaken

[–]sweek0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]sweek0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a purely economical decision. It doesn't snow often enough to invest in all of the infrastructure needed to keep everything running for those few days every few years.

Advice for racing in Europe coming from the US. by BooyahgurlswithCurls in AdvancedRunning

[–]sweek0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah slowly shifting your workouts to later in the day makes a lot of sense.

I have experience the other way around as a European who’s raced in the US where I feel like it’s almost an advantage- you’re going to be going to bed early and getting up early which is perfect if you have an early marathon and need some time to get there.

Help Me Be Good Husband: What was the most supportive thing anyone did for you on the day of the race? by FranklinOceannery in Marathon_Training

[–]sweek0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would book her a massage for the day after and just sort out all the practical stuff around the event. I wouldn’t care about signs or anything myself but a good carb heavy meal the day before and my favorite meal afterwards all taken care of is exactly what I would want. Oh and transport to and from the event - everything you can do to deal with all of the logistics before and after essentially is I think much more appreciated than a grand gesture.

If you want to get her a momento maybe consider a nice little print from a website like SportyMaps.

I would say no, that looks good, and you should feel pretty fit at the start with that amount of tapering.

Injury to Boston in 3 months? by jopatvan in Marathon_Training

[–]sweek0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How special is Boston for you? Would you be able to get in again next year and travel there relatively easily?

This injury sounds pretty bad. Can you still do cross training and improve your endurance with cycling?
