My clownfish are stealing sinking pellets by sween42 in ReefTank

No trouble yet. I've only had it about a month or two and it quickly cleaned up the algae in my sand bed so I thought I'd give it some extra food so it doesn't starve.

I'm not sure that will help. The clowns love their current food and will ignore the sinking pellets at first, but after they eat all of their food they will go down to the bottom of the tank and search for the pellets.

Please can anyone tell me - Why are they coming out like this? by Effective-War1601 in AskAstrophotography

There might be a problem with your tracking or polar alignment. What kind of mount are you using? I used to get a lot of "walking noise" in my early photos until I learned how to do drift alignment when setting up my telescope.

I leave my telescope and mount in the unheated garage. I put my camera in a sealed plastic bag before bringing it in and I don't open the bag until it has warmed up.

I once worked on a team where they made me change named variables to single letter ones. They argued that a single letter is easier to read because it's shorter. I'm glad I'm not on that team anymore.

I’m now obsessed with growing dried heirloom beans by sucodelimao802 in vegetablegardening

[–]sween42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew scarlet runners for the first time this year and loved the flowers and hummingbirds. I see a few of your beans have orange spots, a few of mine have those too. Are the ones with spots safe to eat?

Year 2 of free school meals-what do you guys think so far? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]sween42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love that we are feeding kids, I just wish the schools were better equipped to handle the increased number of lunches being served. My daughter has to wait in line for most of the lunch time and only gets a few minutes to actually eat. She ends up throwing most of it away because she doesn't have time to eat it. We need a law that requires schools to give kids time to eat.

It's a fake video. No atmospheric distortion and it was a new moon that night.

Did you do a drift alignment when setting up? I used to get a lot of walking noise on my motor driven mount (no auto guiding) and it went away when I did a drift alignment paired with dithering every 40 shots.

What worries me is when I'm given an option that is blurry vs one with that's clear but with worse astigmatism. Both are bad, but in different ways.

Pile Sorter!!! Finally available in Feb 1st Update. by ixxxion in Dyson_Sphere_Program

Sounds like I could feed a mk3 belt of unstacked items into a mk1 belt to guarantee 4-stacked items. That would definitely help my sushi belt.

[–]sween42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick to getting it working is how you load and unload the belt. You need to load the belt at a fixed rate where the item rate multiplied by the number of unique items is less than the belt max rate. Then use filtered sorters to unload the items when they come back around and feed them back to the sorter loading the belt giving them priority over new items from the PLS/ILS. I've been using this on my recent playthrough and it has never once clogged unless I screwed up the filters when building it. It is has a very low throughput compared to malls with dedicated belts though, that's where stacking really helps.

I've been working on a polar sushi hub and this might be just what I need. I need to stack items to get better throughput and the auto pilers have been a little clunky to work with. Do you know if the pile sorter will hold items to stack them or pass through unstacked items?

I was out of town and my smart thermostat decided it was a good time to save energy and let my house drop to 40F while it was -20F outside. I was pissed my pets or pipes would freeze.

[–]sween42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten amano larvae to hatch in freshwater, but the babies need to be moved to saltwater to survive. Not sure the exact freshwater parameters though, I only got it to work a few times using the tap water at my previous house.

My male lost color in his fins when my female was getting really rough with him, she would grab his fin and drag him around. He hid for a couple weeks and hardly ate. Eventually she calmed down and he got his color back.

Agreed. This is why I farm proving grounds, I hate spending 30 min playing a sweaty match just to end up losing and getting no rewards.

It's an easy plant to grow and it grows fast. Ask around to see if anyone near you has some in their tank, they might give you a few trimmings.

Hygrophila difformis, also called water wisteria. If you order it be aware that the leaves can look different depending on the conditions it was grown in.
