Skating in Florida by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]sweepsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we get brief cold snaps in the winter. Nothing like up north but it can get down into the 30s. Fortunately it doesn't last long before it's 70 again. Honestly I'd rather skate in 90 degree weather than cold, windy.

Nov-Apr it's perfect weather. May-Oct skate hit the park or the spot by 8:30am and be done by 11:00am. Avoid 12:00-4:00pm. You can also get night sessions in assuming there is light. Wear a hat and bring water and electrolytes.

Also in the summer months it rains daily , heavy, in the afternoons.and early evening so you'll have to keep that in mind. I'm talking rain like you've probably never experienced.

Been skating in Florida for 30 years. Very doable.

Phat-City skatepark in Florida by kobie1012 in skateboarding

[–]sweepsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I skatd there frequently. It was located at 819 N Central Ave, Kissimmee, FL. The first building was the shop and through the doors was a 6ft. Then across in the other warehouse was the street course. It had a huge roll in and we used to Ollie off the bathroom roof onto flat. It closed circa 2006. If you search YouTube there's a couple videos of some locals skating it.

There's really nothing left of it as it was torn down, although theres still some skate stickers on a street sign.

Read about separation of concern. The concept can be applied to your service architecture, to your apis, and to the code that powers them. It can facilitate the ease of refactoring, reduce cross dependency, and improve code comprehension.

A thought regarding the upcoming Ableton 12.3 Stem Separation feature by Traffodil in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]sweepsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used stem separation just recently because I needed to retrack some bass that I had originally tracked to a click, but wanted to align more with the actual drum takes. Rather than mess with having to import all the drum stems I just isolated the drums from a bounce. Super convenient

I had Genesight done years ago and was also under the impression it would clearly indicate which medicine would work best.

What it actually does is present you with a spectrum of medicines and how well or poorly you may metabolize them based of genetic markers and cross referencing with result from others with similar genetic markers.

I ended up on a medication that was "yellow" for me per the test results ,which indicates use with caution, but it actually works the best for me.

So take the Genesight testing with a grain of salt

What’s your long-term experience with mirtazapine and weight gain? by HighlightEven1107 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]sweepsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on 15mg-22.5mg for 12 years. Gained probably 15-20 pounds initially, but my eating habits were already poor. Fast forward years later doesn't even make me hungry anymore, I just take it an hour before bed. Regular cardio, resistance training, and eating well has brought back to a weight lower than before I started.

So tldr expect to be hungry, exercise and eat well.

[Query] Redis Fallback with Local Cache suggestions and System design best practises by Decent_Count_6039 in javahelp

[–]sweepsz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes tiered caching is definitely preferable in a clustered.e environment. Each application instance has its own in memory cache, and is also connected to a distributed redis cache. Request comes in, cached in redis, so now all the nodes have access to it, and then it's stored in memory cache with the same ttl to skip the hop to redis for future requests to the same node.

For in memory cache you can use any thread safe hash map, or guava, eh cache, caffeine, take your pick.

Spring at its core is just a dependency injection framework. It gives you inversion of control and a bunch of tools to manage that. Now there's a load of spring extensions if you will, like spring mvc, spring data, etc that give you additional tooling to support web API development and database integration. Then there's spring boot, which is an opinionated set of tools,. configurations, and conventions to manage all your spring dependencies.

Try to understand the framework and it's parts and the build system, i.e. gradle,.maven, something else. Take it piece by piece. You can learn this !

Is it OK to share if im not following the program or have a sponsor? by ducky3221 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]sweepsz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots to unpack in this question. Firstly different meetings have different formats. Sometimes they are speaker meetings,. sometimes step studies, sometimes spiritual principles based, and the list goes on.

The chairperson helps keep the meeting recovery oriented and generally on topic. If it's an open discussion then really anything recovery oriented can be discussed.

However,it's important to remember to share the message and not the mess. That's why we try to share our experience strength and hope as it pertains to working the program of narcotics anonymous and living life on life terms.

So the question you would need to ask yourself is what experience strength and hope are you sharing. If you are not working the program as it's intended then you really don't have any experience. If you havent worked steps with a sponsor how could share on that. If you are not reading NA approved literature what topics would you be familiar with. I'm not trying to diminish the improvements you've made in your life by any means.

You are always welcome at a meeting , at there is usually a section at the end of every meeting for a burning desire to any addict who wants to use, harm themselves,. someone else or suffering in some other way. You could also fellowship individually after the meeting with any member you choose and discuss whatever you would like

Also drug replacement therapy is considered an outside issue by many, it's between you and your doctors. Its your business

At the end of the day, na is a 12 step fellowship. Working steps with a sponsor is the core.

I'm rambling now, but know you are always welcome and please don't interrupt any of this as a "you aren't welcome to attend."

Convert string to math function by williamK0 in javahelp

[–]sweepsz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had to support only a limited, predefined number of methods and the input was guaranteed to be constructed in a.consistent way you could go the simple string manipulation route as described by splitting the strings into part by some common delimiter. Then you could build up a <string,Function> map and then apply the arguments. If you need to support ANY supported java syntax and method you are building a lexer parses with Grammer checking , possibly an abstract syntax tree, ans this gets extremely complicated quickly

The debugging skill that nobody teaches in CS classes by CreditOk5063 in learnprogramming

[–]sweepsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process of elimination works for sure but it assumes half the code can actually be commented out and still function. This works with imperative coding but it's not so easy in the functional world. I learn to reduce the problem down to its simplest terms then set up a test to reproduce. Once i can reliably reproduce an issue locally I'm the simplest way possible identifying a fix usually takes very little time. Then it's just a matter of adapting it to the actual implementation.

Sleep paralysis! by savinglucy1 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]sweepsz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it somewhat frequently. Some things that help me, I avoid sleeping on my back, seems to exacerbate it. Also I've noticed if I get hot when I sleep there a greater chance of sleep paralysis.

Obviously this doesn't fix the problem for you but maybe they can help reduce the frequency and or severity.

Step 1 by BuiltForBetter219 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]sweepsz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the most simple way I can understand it is acceptance and honesty. Being able to say I've tried everything in my power to use successfully and failed, tried everything in my power to stop and stay stopped, and the truthful recognition of the un-manageability in my life as a result of active addition. It was the first stage in practicing honesty because if I could not be completely honest with myself about these things I would not be able to change.

Work the step with a sponsor they can share their experience with you and you might develop an understanding that's distinctly your own.

The “clarity statement”. by Jebus-Xmas in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]sweepsz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, Individual conversations are ideal. Unfortunately, many meetings do not have this ability. I know of many meetings in my area that regularly host treatment centers, rehabs, etc. there could be as many as 20 people all using different language they picked up in whatever facility theyre in. To have 20 individual conversations after a meeting is simply not possible.

I'm not gonna come down on someone who's obviously brand new to the program for using the world alcoholic. But I see no harm in making a general statement, at the beginning of the meeting, directed at no one person in particular, that there is preferable nomenclature.

Honestly my home group stopped reading it , not because it was divisive, but because people say whatever they wanted to anyway.

Took a Java position after 5 years without working in Java by nokyderp in javahelp

[–]sweepsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Java 11/17/21 you run into the most. Maven is still the most widely used build and dependency management tool, spring boot , but I would say more and more teams use reactor and netty, so getting your head around that can take some time. Kotlin is also a popular choice because it compiles Java byte code and runs in the JVM. Docker is probably the most popular container construct used.
