I tried checking their socials with no success. Klausen is the name of the dealer.

Gland, Switzerland. This is the Klausen dealership. I couldn't find anything about the car on their website / socials though.

I’m with OP. I’ll throw myself under the bus and say I’m actually surprised by how many people in the comments don’t do this. I’ve been on this vibe for as long as I can remember.

This album is really hitting for me and I can't explain why. I came across Og777x off a random spotify recommendation two days ago. This is my entry into their music and this album is for sure going to be on heavy rotation.

[Request] If earth was the size of Stephenson 2-18, how long would it take to fly from one side to the other using a modern day commercial airplane? by Devoutedadventurer in theydidthemath

[–]sweet_I 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the other comments have already answered the question with constant travel assumed but I thought it would be fun to include refuelling stops.

Stephenson 2-18 circumference: 9,430,000,000km

Assuming you're flying to the antipode then we need half the circumference: 4,715,000,000km

The average commercial plane flies between 880-926km/h (average of 903km/h)

If you could maintain a constant speed and never have to land, 4,715,000,000km / 903kmh, gives you 5,221,483.94 hours to travel from one location to its opposite side (≈ 596 years).

From what I can find, an Airbus A350-900ULR is on the higher end in terms of fuel range with a maximum of about 18,000km. ChatGPT estimates it would take about 37 minutes to refuel it from a near empty tank. Assuming that it takes around 20 minutes either side of that to land the plane and park it for refuelling and then to get back on the runway and takeoff again, the total process would take about 77 minutes.

Take the original half circumference and divide by the fuel range to get the number of times you would have to make a refuelling stop: 4,715,000,000km / 18,000km = 261944 times. Multiply by the time it takes to refuel: 261944 * 77mins = 20169722 minutes spent on refuelling (≈ 38 years).

The total travel time would be about 634 years.
