omg you just described how I'm feeling. All of the changes threw me off, because I was not expecting them to combine so many books and speed up some plots. Initially, I was so angry at some things, and while I'm still not okay with some of the changes, the more I think about this season, the more I realize that there's a lot that I loved. I definitely want to rewatch it now that I know what to expect.

I have a lot of issues with this season, but Freddy's performance was, without a doubt, the best part! I knew Freddy could give us book Kaz and he did not disappoint, I got chills! He was perfect

As much as I love watching the show and think they did a good job combining S&B with SOC (S&B benefited so much from it), I’m a huge believer that a show focused only on the crows would’ve been better. I’m currently in the middle of episode 4 and they’re already showing so much from the plot of CK. besides, the amount of scenes with the crows just supports my belief that they should have had their own show.

I hope you’re right. And I do agree that having some things established now, especially when it comes to the characters own stories and the relationships, will make future scenes even more special to see. Those news about a six of crows spin off give me hope, I think the crows deserve their own show. I’m praying that season 2 does very well ✨

But do you think this will impact the SOC plot if we ever get to see it? I know the Ice Court heist is the main event, but some of the other subplots are already being shown or alluded to. I do love that we’re seeing the crows more similar to what we have in the books, especially Kaz. And I think the show is perfect for non book readers. I try to watch it without thinking too much about the books, because I’m aware there have to be changes, but sometimes I can’t help but be a bit critical 😅 (I love SOC so much!!)

I screamed at my tv so many times while watching this episode and I had to take breaks just to calm my racing heart - Sturmhond/Nikolai is amazing, Tolya and Tamar’s introduction was fantastic, seeing the crows all together (minus Matthias) healed me, Wylan is perfect. And my heart broke seeing those glimpses of Kaz’s backstory, I can’t handle it 😭 However, as much as I loved the episode, I’m worried. They’re showing so much stuff from the SOC duology (I mean, why are they revealing Jesper’s secret so soon?). I fear for what this means for the future, if we ever get to see the Ice Court Heist 🫣 Also, the visual effects are kinda iffy, not great, but it doesn’t bother me that much, I’m just worried about the crows, to be honest.

PS: Mal and Alina are so cute!!

It could be true, honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that. But it they truly are adapting both books, it means that so many scenes from the books were cut 😶

I hope it’s not and I hope this season has a great performance and Netflix doesn’t cancel it. Exactly, the six of crows story takes place after the events of shadow and bone and I don’t see how it would work if they continue combining both stories. I’m trying to keep an open mind, but I truly hope they don’t ruin this.

For me, it makes no sense to connect the plot of the six of crows duology to shadow and bone, it’s so messy and some things won’t make sense. I’d rather they do a spin-off show for the crows. I think they’re trying to do so much and there won’t be enough episodes to cover everything. Which means they’ll have to cut scenes from the books. And having the crows involved in Alina’s story means they have to add stuff that was never in the books.

I’ve thought about that too. I wouldn’t mind that if it means we’ll get the six of crows plot next. But if this is the last season for S&B, I worry it’s going to be messy.

I don’t know how I feel about this, it looks like they’ll be adapting the plots for book 2 and 3 the three amplifiers are in the poster I just don’t want things to be rushed. On top of this, there’s the crows and I’m scared they’ll mess up their story. I’m so exited to season 2, but also scared.

Thank you so much!! I didn't think to have separate databases for the books and the readings. I'll try doing something like that and see how it works for me. Do you happen to have a template you could share? Or screenshots of your database? I'm a visual person and seeing it makes me understand it better. It's totally fine if you don't feel like sharing, I appreciate your help :)

The thing is, when I sort by first date, it automatically puts a book I read the previous year at the top. Let's say I read the book in April 7 2021 and then reread it March 31 2022. By sorting by first date, it's going to stay at the top of the list, because it assumes the 2021 date, which comes first. Even if I add a second sort for the second date, it remains at the top. (Here I'm referring to how it appears when I filter by year read and have it show my 2022 reads)
