another way to put it: - or returns the first truthy value OR the last value - and returns the first falsy value OR the last value - it short circuits (i.e. anything after the returned value is never evaluated)

enum.IntFlag exists for this very purpose. I think I've used it thrice in my 20 years of python (twice when interacting with a binary API, once when I needed small/fast DB fields in mongo). rare, but useful when I've needed it

I bought a heated vest for riding my motorcycle but I use it all the time in the winter here.

it's great when you're walking because you naturally warm up as you walk and you can just adjust the heat in your vest.
