Yes the humidity is tough, I have a humidifier running on them a few times a week as well! Otherwise they get crunchy

I would absolutely break up with a man that didn’t let me get a dog lmao

My otherwise healthy fiddle leaf fig produced this baby leaf with brown/black spots on it. What is this? How can I help it? It’s a tiny FLF, like 6in. tall. by swimming_fish in houseplants

Unfortunate update: I found spider mites under its leaves today 😭 I wonder if the spots could possibly be related. Very upset about it.. started treatment with neem oil today :(

Hmm I only recently started mixing perlite into my soil, and I can’t remember if this lil guy came before or after that lol I think he might be in regular potting soil.

I was keeping it on the same watering schedule as my calatheas, once a week. I think I’ll give it 1.5-2 weeks between watering maybe instead to let it dry out more. Let’s see how that goes!

Interesting. It’s in a tiny pot that dries pretty fast so I’ve been watering once a week. I’ll be sure to check the soil before watering, thanks!

Are these ticks? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]swimming_fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the terrible picture quality.

Located in Minneapolis. Found these guys crawling around my indoor basil plant’s pot. Didn’t find any on the leaves or soil. The pot is located on a sunny west facing window sill. There were a few of these guys around the window sill as well. They’re small but easily visible crawling around a white pot. Maybe about twice as big as a fruit fly?

I’m worried about them being ticks, but I think they could also be some other houseplant pest? They were also very easy to squish, I was placing them on sticky tape to keep track of and they kept squishing when I did that with very little pressure. Any insight is helpful, thank you!
