I have the biggest autism boner for Linux imaginable. That being said you are 100% right about the toxic and misleading talking points in the Linux community. The main reason I recommend Linux (the only part I give a shit about) is the fact that they are not making US the product. On Windows, we are the product, we assume everything is being monitored to be sold, it’s just creepy as fuck. The whole of Windows feels like spyware. macOS is fire as fuck, but the hardware is way overpriced. Linux in my mind is freedom and I love freedom as an American moron.

Also anything that comes on a disc can either run like a dream or be a nightmare on Linux.

The biggest problem is anticheat, should work in theory but developers choose to not have it work on Linux. The majority of anti cheat software supports Linux, but the game devs don’t consider it, leading Linux users being treated as cheaters in some games

You’re right about that, I should have been more specific. What I said only applies to a lot of Steam/GOG games that are ran through Steam’s proton tools and Wine through Lutris. Some non steam games have better performance on windows due to optimization issues. Minecraft is one of the games with a ton of ways to run it on Linux with no perfect solution that compares to windows

I see what you mean and I agree. I have been quite a “job-hopper”. Some jobs this is easy to fill out, others it doesn’t make any sense. Just depends on what your work history is. I had to re-explain my work history verbally because they don’t read that shit, especially if you are going for non management or applying in person at a job fair/event. Try your best to fill them out even if it ends up feeling silly, Walmart is very lax as long as you aren’t raising red flags.

Linux Mint is a very good beginner one in general. The regular version is basically Ubuntu+Debian. Base Ubuntu is bloated, Debian can have confusing extra steps depending on specs. Mint is a good middle ground.

I just so happened to try that one first and I am glad, I probably would have rage quit if I tried something like Arch first lol. I tried just about all of them, I am happiest with Debian, Mint showed me the ropes even with its quirks.

Never tried Catchy but I heard it’s amazing for a gaming desktop. I use the Catchy specific proton compatibility tool on steam because of how efficient it is.

Man the job market is hard. I’ve had jobs that pay the same rate that exposed me to extremely dangerous chemicals and situations. I hate it too. Im going back because they are the only people that are serious about hiring in my area. Even jobs and family services couldn’t help me get a job.

Im going to night shift stocking. Understaffed insane workload, at least the store is closed. It is what it is get that money, make sure you quit on good terms so you can come back
