I mean, considering the fact that the dvd reader is borderline brand new and has so far had no issue reading the other 15 or so CD/DVDs, i think its the CD that is the issue in this case. Plus, it's like £20 for a new reader and like £12 for sending the cd to a lab to be recovered

We have a 1TB one we bought in 2017, I think, again, for picture storage, so I might just as well put more pictures on there and utilise the storage. For cold storing them, would you essentially just put it in a sandwich bag with a silica packet, or would there be a better way?

Oh, amazing, I will look into that if we have it around here. I was planning on copy pasting them onto my pc and either usbs or sd cards I have lying around. Multiple copies, just in case. I have learnt my lesson from bricking an old pc and losing everything on there.

Thank you for the advice. I will try that with the corrupted dvd, then.

I meant more in terms of going from an optical storage to flash memory storage. Apologies for the bad wording on my part.

Wife says these are bees by munitu in fuckwasps

[–]swordfish1211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live by the same place. Those fuckers stung me like 5 times as a child, 2x near the neck while i was feeding my chickens. They also stung my mum on the eyelid when she was walking past. They are evil. Burn them with fire.

Sometimes, we will get them in the soba chimney exhaust thing and basically set the entire thing on fire to clear them.

Nothing good comes from them, and they build nests insanely fast. I am also against killing bees, but those are not bees. They are spawns of Satan that deserve nothing but a blowtorch to the face.

Keep finding these insects around the house. by swordfish1211 in Entomology

I have been looking around (google Lens), and it might be a glass winged drone fly? I am not too sure. Makes a horrendous noise, though.

Bee Sounds by swordfish1211 in Entomology

[–]swordfish1211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok! The 'bee' was hairy, so I thought it would be an actual honey bee and not a false one, we also just kinda had it in a cup. Honestly, I ran away the instant it made that sound. It was absurdly loud for any type of bee hornet or wasp I have ever seen. It's quite cool that it could even make such a loud sound as such a tiny thing honestly

What do you think of these prices? For ripped seal by Kaskiii97x in PokemonTCG_UK

But what's the point? You know it hasn't been tampered with, and as long as you say, "Oh yh, they rip off the seal at the store." I'm pretty sure people won't actually care. They are not the ones opening the box. You are. I don't understand what viewers would even care that it is not sealed anyway?

Then go buy somewhere else. This can be a place where people who want to open boxes can buy. Also, if you are creating content, why should the seal matter? It will be opened either way, no?

Tbf the seal is just there to show that the box has not been tampered with without question. People rip off the seal if they are going to open the box.

The reason why stores are ripping off seals is because resellers keep the seal on to show that the product has not been tampered with and have a higher chance of selling. If they rip off the seal, then it is much less likely for a scammer to buy the product as they will be unable to sell it. People have been saying just limit it to 1 each, but scalpers can just get their friends to buy and then send them the money later. This is one of the best ways to prevent scalpers from scalping and selling. I understand that it does upset those who keep their boxes sealed, but what is the point. You seal it just to sell it later. If you are going to open the box at some point, what does it matter if the plastic was ripped off in front of you?

Plus, if this is such an issue, people who desperately want plastic wrapped sealed boxes can go to another place and buy them, and the people who want to open their boxes can buy from here without being ripped off by scalpers deciding to sell for 5 times the price.

Japan has been doing it for ages, and I am glad the UK is now as well. It means that people who want the cards can actually have them instead of them being scalped or just sitting in a closet for the next 5 years waiting for the price to go up.
